The fusion of music and fashion has always been harmonious. And this Fashion Week, the music has been top notch. However, nobody killed it quite as well as Brit pop artist, ALUNAGEORGE, during the Rebecca Minkoff runway show.
Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2014 collection introduces the notion of modern practicality, opting for a simpler, more understated approach to dressing. With an emphasis on clean lines and harmonious separates, Minkoff’s vision of the contemporary woman shines through: She strikes a balance between masculine and feminine with confident ease.
The beauty looks were stunning - dark Lorde-esque lips with two tone nails and bodacious blow outs. The perfect metallics and patent accessories with gorgeous slouchy beanies stole the show and everyone is mad about plaid for next season! The collection redefines classic menswear through feminine colors and softer silhouettes. Tailored Crombie coats, boyish trousers, and sharp button-downs get the ladylike treatment as they are slimmed-down and shown in a palette of soft grey, petal pink, noble green, navy, and tobacco. The essence of the empowered working woman embodies everything Rebecca Minkoff designs and styles for. Effortlessly chic and totally tailored.
As you'd suspect from any fashion it-girl, Olivia Palermo j’adores Dior. It’s always one of her Paris Fashion Week highlights, with the Spring/Summer 2013 show being no different, as Olivia shared on her blog before jetting to Africa.
We can't get enough of Olivia's navy Dior peplum dress, Giuseppe Zanotti navy pointed toe pumps, a furry clutched sized purse by Dior and sunglasses a la Westward Leaning.
Always in style, Olivia nailed the of-the-moment mixed fabric trend. We at Joonbug, love, love, love!
I had the opportunity to sit at Jill Stuarts Fall/Winter 2012 runway show this past February and I have to say, that I truly adore her designs. When chatting with Jill after her show, she spoke about her love of vintage fashions and how she actually has a vintage shop within her own retail store located on Greene Street in Manhattan.
This tote bag would most definitely fit into any fashion lovers wardrobe quite well! The tote is offered in Black, Blue and a pretty burnt Orange. I also love the collar necklace in one of the photos – so on trend, yet so chic! Miss Palermo was recently spotted at Century 21 on the Upper West Side shopping and of course she was spotted sitting at Jill Stuart’s Fall/Winter 2012 runway show during New York Fashion Week!

Luxe: Most sunglasses tend to be made out of some combination of plastic and metal, but luxury designer Linda Farrow has added new exotic materials like snakeskin to her designs. Linda Farrow is a top sunglasses designer in the industry and has collaborated with brands including Alexander Wang, The Row, and Dries Van Noten. Her designs mix classic shapes with innovative materials and details. In her own designs, Linda Farrow always shows bold pieces that are perfect to wear year-round. One amazing pair is the Luxe Titanium Snakeskin Aviators in a classic aviator shape, modernized with snakeskin coated temples.
I recently had the opportunity to chat with designer Jill Stuart. I've always been a true admirer of her designs, brand, and fashion sense. For some of you who may not know, Jill began working at the age of 15 designing jewelry which was sold at Bloomingdale's. I find her work ethic extremely inspirational. It's interesting how we can admire certain fashions created by a designer and then upon meeting the designer in person one can actually love their collections even more. At that point, everything comes together and becomes real.
Last night, W Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Stefano Tonchi, partnered up with Global P&G Prestige President, Joanne Crews, to host the Ever Changing Face of Beauty event at our big apple’s Park Avenue Armory. In the frenzy of Fashion Week, W pulled out all the stops using the massive arena-like space to welcome more than 600 guests. If there was ever a fashion week party worth clawing your way into, this was it.
The event celebrated a video installation by world-renowned fashion photographer, Sølve Sundsbø and had a celebrity guest list that could go on for days. The video featured 2 large screens representing man on one, and woman on the other. Throughout the video, both screens show the outcomes of evolution in beauty around the world and its consequences.
A little snow can’t stop the show! On March 10 2011 the hot and the fabulous embraced the gloomy weather and came out to celebrate the opening of The Mondrian Soho. You know it's a party when celebrities such as Russell Simmons, EVE, Olivia Palermo, Brad Goreski and Charlotte Ronson attend. The cocktail party took over the hotel’s lobby, the gorgeous Garden Room and awe-inspiring penthouse.
The night was filled with great entertainment. The Kills rocked the room with an incredible performance and New York’s hottest DJs, Harley Viera-Newton and DJ Kiss spun and got the crowd dancing till 4 in the morning.
As winter approached, we looked at our honey blonde locks and realized that their sunshine tones did not match the more serious seasons' sober mood. We needed more depth, more winter-ness! So, always one to rock and spot trends, we dyed our hair a rich chocolate brown, as did, by coincidence, Olivia Palermo.
But now, mid January, we have a hair dilemma. Unlike Olivia, we live in a city where the sun always
shines and the beach always beckons. As soon as the Xmas turkey is out of the way, the days start to
heat up and we suddenly need to feel, lighter, more free, and altogether more Malibu and less New York. We wanted highlights, but without the obvious look that they usually gave. What to do?
Be waiting for our reports on these celebs at today's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Shows.
