The Brooklyn Night Bazaar is the place where art, fashion, food, and music converge every weekend in New York City. This Friday night, courtesy of Noisey/VICE, the Bazaar's concert space will be headlined by DaM-FunK, an authentic modern-day "funksta," with support from Maya Vik, Gordon Voidwell, and DJ Thanksgiving Brown.
A new weekly party is coming to town this Wednesday, February 15th. The night will kick off with sets by premier DJ Keen and will feature ping pong and pool tournaments. Chalk is the only spot in Miami that combines ping-pong, billiards, and a party lounge. If you're tired of the same old parties, and are looking for something new and exciting, you'll want to check out Rec Room Wednesdays! With modern fixtures and a space boasting 6600 square feet, which includes wireless jukeboxes, a VIP room with iPods, and twelve big screen TVs throughout, it's the ultimate spot to catch the game or play ping pong/pool while sipping a brew from their extensive international beer menu. And with so many activities to participate in, you're sure to never get bored.

Sometimes, you want to do more than just drink at bar. Say hello to Chalk, Sobe's latest nightlife endeavor by managing partners Robert Chalk, Sayra Moto and Joseph Blount. A Grand Opening celebration will kick off this Thursday, January 5th with a private, invitation-only ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by Miami Beach Vice-Mayor Michael Gongora at 9PM. The party continues all night, opening doors to the public at 10 PM. (RSVP: RSVP@chalkmiami.com.)
For all of Manhattan's diversity, the nightlife often involves a similar experience. Head to a bar or club, listen to music, drink, talk to friends, and get rejected by girls I try and talk to (j/k I don't get rejected). Occasionally us nightlife folk crave a change up or two for a night out. Enter Susan Sarandon. She helped bring the Ping-Pong club/bar called 'SPiN New York' to NYC a few years ago and has been a staple in the city ever since. First she helped clear Nuke's head to get him to the majors and steal Crash's heart in Bull Durham, and now this. Truly an amazing woman.
The Beekman Beer Garden has officially opened at South Street Seaport. Taking the place of the old Water Taxi Beach, The Beer Garden features 18,000 square feet of space (including a 6,000 square foot beach) adorned with cabanas, lounge chairs, glowing couches and hammocks. And to every beer lover's delight, they have foosball, pool and ping pong tables! (Beer pong, anyone?) The menu features an extensive beer list (obviously) of pretty much every German and American beer you can imagine. The kitchen is headed by Chef Jason Mayer, who brings traditional beer garden charm with menu items such as Spicy Cheddar Bratwurst on a pretzel bun, fish and chips, and a juicy 8 oz. LaFrieda burger.
You probably haven't noticed that I've been away for a couple of weeks, but I'm back and here to remind you that YES it has been THAT long!
Lots to catch up on, and I will be catching up, but I can't do that without telling you all about this past Halloween weekend.
Before I do that and before I forget, this week you are going to get two articles from me, today and one on Friday, which will be a very special feature of British singer/songwriter David McAlmont who hits New York this weekend to play some amazing live shows.
Scene: Restaurant, Bar, Lounge, Nightclub, Game
This massive venue is perfect for the hyperactive pool shark who likes having their lounge, club, billiards room, ping pong room and restaurant, all in one place. Coming in for the billiards and pong, and staying for dinner and drinks is what Slate is all about. The menu is dubbed Nouveau American and remains traditional, but extensive enough to please everyone. Slate PLUS lounge is filled with comfy red velvet chairs which adds to the drawing room atmosphere. It also has a private VIP lounge and private dining area. Overall, the space offers an upscale twist on the dimly lit, old man billiards bars of yore.
