Gary Spencer: Putting A Spin on Halloween

Hi Gang,

You probably haven't noticed that I've been away for a couple of weeks, but I'm back and here to remind you that YES it has been THAT long!

Lots to catch up on, and I will be catching up, but I can't do that without telling you all about this past Halloween weekend.

Before I do that and before I forget, this week you are going to get two articles from me, today and one on Friday, which will be a very special feature of British singer/songwriter David McAlmont who hits New York this weekend to play some amazing live shows.

Beat the Heat This Friday at Polar Lounge

New York in the summer is known for its unbearable humidity. Sometimes it’s difficult to breathe because the humidity is so thick you can cut through it with a knife. It can be a nuisance if you want to go out for the night; your skin is moist and even though every bar in NYC has air condition you still can’t feel a peep of cold air.

You may think it’s near impossible to escape the dreadful humidity, but there is hope New Yorkers.

Polar Lounge, located beneath Hotel Marcel at Gramercy is an artic-inspired subterranean lounge. Now doesn’t that sound refreshing? Though the temperature isn’t frigid as the artic temperatures it’s definitely a relief from the summer heat. This lounge is an example of New York's unique nightlife venues. The faux-polar-bear skin and caves gives you a little taste of the North Pole. So, to beat the heat this Friday come to Polar Lounge; there will be music featured by DJ G Whiz.

Polar Lounge Heating Up?

Beneath the Hotel Marcel at Gramercy, lays the icy, chilled, Polar Lounge.

The arctic hideaway has both a North Pole inspired main area along with private intimate caves if you're in the mood for some extra VIP treatment.

About four months ago, Polar opened its igloo to fashion events, media mixers and after parties in addition to celebrities including Miranda Kerr, Alicia Keys,Orlando Bloom, Swizz Beatz, and Alexa Ray Joel.

Matt Levine and his Brandsway Creative Team, who have their hand in hot spots like the Eldridge, Levant East at The Hotel On Rivington, and The Boathouse in East Hampton, are using their magic to turn Polar Lounge into another exclusive NYC lounge. So far, it appears to be working.

I believe it is safe to say that Polar Lounge is heating up or in this case, it's "melting."
