We all know and love neighborhood haunt, Alfama, but get ready for tonight's opening of Ball Night Mondays (get your mind out of the gutter)! Fill your tummies with delicious eats and libations while you watch your favorite teams battle it out on the football field. Enjoy meatball and beer specials every Monday night on Alfama's flatscreen TVs in the bar.
Take your pick of three different meatballs --pork, shrimp and ginger, lamb or veal, and pair it with a Portuguese draft beer called Sagres for $12. And if you're feeling extra ballsy, feel free to order up additional meatballs for $3 a piece. If you want to stick with Alfama's Portuguese theme for the night, we recommend trying the pork, shrimp, and ginger meatball, which is a Macanese recipe from the Macau colony. Don't skip out on this great deal...all night on Mondays, starting now!
Owners David Gilberg and Carla Goncalves both spent time in notable kitchens around the city before collaborating to open KooZeedoo (the phonetic spelling for the Portuguese word for "cooked"). The restaurant’s cuisine was born from Carla’s Portuguese heritage. David crafts the dinner menu and manages the kitchen while Carla runs the front of the house and oversees the homemade bread and desserts. Together, this talented couple have built a bustling eatery that's routinely booked with reservations.
There is nothing better than a spring concert on Miami Beach which features some of South America's best world music. On the far north side of Miami Beach, just a couple of minutes away from South Beach, there's the North Beach Bandshell. This Bandshell has been around for ages and right next to the beach. So, as the sun is setting, with the sky turning from bright orange to turquoise and the breeze of the ocean hitting your sun bathed skin, the mood is set just right for some great music.
