National Punch Day is Here!

We picked out some of the best new punches and found you the recipes. That way, you can try them at home or at the bar. Here are our top five from the emerging punch revolution.

1. Fishhouse Punch Royale

You may not be able to get this at the bar if you're a New Yorker (unless you find yourself suddenly in Seattle), but this recipe highlights the long tradition of punch as interpreted through a modern lens. The original version of this colonial-era recipe was said to be a favorite of George Washington. Try this tweaked concoction, re-vamped by mixologist Jamie Boudreau, of Canon in Seattle.

Last Saturday, City Harvest fed Brooklynites at a fun-filled fundraising event featuring artisanal food and activities. The event was held at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park from 11am-6pm and what a day it was! The weather cooperated with City Harvest and had event-goers leaving happy and completely full.

Over 75 artisanal vendors were in attendance, showcasing their delicious snacks-- from craft beer and wine to local and gourmet food items. There was also a Tasting Tent with private seating, featuring food and drinks from some of Brooklyn's best venues, including Benchmark Restaurant, Momofuku Milk Bar, The Good Fork, and more. The Tasting Tent was curated by Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli of Frankies Spuntino and Prime Meats.

Crawl Your Way Through Brooklyn's Finest Eateries

Tickets are now available for Bon Appétit’s three day, pub-inspired grub crawl through Brooklyn. During the first weekend in June, grub enthusiasts will have a chance to get up close and personal with Brooklyn’s most buzz-worthy chefs. Eat and drink your way through three Brooklyn neighborhoods while taking a peek inside the kitchens that have create the delicious foods that have put the borough on the culinary hotspot map. On Saturday night, stick around after the food stops for a concert and DJ performance at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory starting at 9 p.m.

Prime Meats to Offer Fateful Titanic Menu

On April 10, 1912, the Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage. The luxurious liner departed from Southampton, England with over 2,300 passengers aboard. The ship was expected to dock in New York City but as well all know, it never made it. It was one of the biggest and most lavished passenger ships of its era and was also fatefully touted as being "unsinkable." On the night of April 14th, the liner struck an iceberg, and sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic in mere hours. Due to a lack of lifeboats, over 1,500 people met a horrific icy end. Because of the disaster, the Titanic became most well-known ship in the world.

Over the past couple years, New York City has enjoyed and enveloped itself within the revitalization of Asian culture and cuisine. In commemoration of the Asian awakening, LUCKYRICE.com hosts a festival of Asian significance, joined by culinary superstars. An aggregate of culinary heavyweights-Daniel Boulud, Anthony Bourdain, Eric Ripert, David Cheng, Masaharu Morimoto, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and others-preside over The Lucky Rice Festival, a weekend long celebration of Asian eats.

Hosted by Kelly Choi, the festival's kick-off event comprises an evening filled with Asian-inspired cocktails and snacks, all to benefit City Harvest and the Asian American Federation. Apothéke's Albert Trummer is the mixologist mastermind behind the evening's lip-smacking cocktails. Drinks and snacks are supplied by such watering-holes and culinary establishments as Momofuku, Daniel, Prime Meats, Apothéke, Fatty Crab, wd-50, and many well-known others.
