“Private Eye”-What really happens behind-the-scenes?

On April 7th, clubbers, loungers and art lovers alike will be introduced to “Private Eye.” Hosted by LegalArt, it is an opportunity for those to witness art at inception. The event will be held at The LegalArt Residency.

Founded in 2003, LegalArt assists artists through legal services, grants and educational opportunities. They received $40 million dollars from the John S. and the James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts challenge. The organization wants to empower artists and ensure that their work is protected.

What used to be a warehouse is now a seven room 600 square foot studio dubbed The Legal Art Residency. The sole purpose: a place where an artist can live and express their endeavors. Admission to the event is $30, but for $150, attendees will receive a limited edition piece created from one of nine artists participating.

RESTAURANT OPENINGS
The Secret Wine Shop

This speakeasy-esque wine den doesn’t have a sign out front so look for the Prohibition Gothic façade of the 1920s warehouse. Step up to the big metal door and enter into The Secret Wine Shop. This is your own private tasting room where you can discover ambiguous wines by the glass or bottle for your personal satisfaction.

This safe haven is now open by appointment only but you’ll want to try it. The Secret Wine Shop is part wine tasting, part wine shop and part art gallery. Pull up a stool at the wooden table in the middle of the room and take a look at the ever changing menu with hard-to-find varieties of hand crafted California wines.
