Not often are beauty products thought of as the result of nerdy science experiments, but new hair care brand Living Proof is--well, it's living proof--that beauty begins in the lab. A team of brainy scientists decided to tackle the age-old Battle of the Frizz through molecular warfare, and the innovative products were born from a team of scientists including a handful of Boston-area doctors: two MIT professors and two authorities from Mass General. The result is the Living Proof Frizz line which features the specially-created PolyfluoroEster molecule, the first innovated science solution in anti-frizz hair care to be developed in over 30 years. The new technology won Allure's 2008 Beauty Breakthrough Award.

Long sunny days, picnics in the park and trips to the coast- doesn’t it feel like Christmas? No, didn’t think so but, according to America’s retailers at least, it’s time to start feeling festive.
In a bid to boost flagging sales, many stores have taken the 'Christmas in July’ concept (as told in the 1940 film by Preston Sturges and Brave Combo song of the same name) quite literally, even if they're a month late. TV shopping channel QVC had a Christmas Weekend special, and Sears have even gone as far as to turn some of their stores into premature winter wonderlands. Both companies are said to have had an extremely positive response from customers, so the trend seems set to only get bigger.
