It's the moment everyone has been waiting for-- the lineup announcement has been made for Joonbug.com's highly anticipated Pier 36 NYE 2014 party! In a lineup crafted by the EDM Heavens,Cedric Gervais, R3hab, Sander van Doorn, Showtek, and Tommy Trash will grace the stage as we welcome 2014 with a wild bang. It's a night you will have to EXPIERIENCE for yourself.
In 2012, Joonbug welcomed deadmau5 to the stage, and 2013 saw Armin van Buuren take front and center. Legendary parties in their own right, they had the nation talking and wanting more. Ergo, this year we are upping the ante, giving the people exactly what the people want, and then some, by offering a whole lot more. Additionally, the venue boasts a massive dance floor, perfect for dancing the night away. There will be a live countdown on stage--but don't worry, the party will continue to rage long after the midnight hour.
Kelela Mizanekristos didn’t emerge on the music scene, she was approached. The LA based-performer, flaunting beautiful thick dreadlocks off to the side, embraced her veiled, weightless vocals on her new mixtape Cut 4 Me. With a fine-tuned ear for underground productions and layered sound, Kelela was able to break down subcultures and bring its rawest elements to the mainstream pop conscious. Cut 4 Me can be categorized as R&B post-dubstep, dark dance music, or anything that compliments the bass music scene that has risen from the ashes of digital recording technology. She gives much ado to her producers, whom shared common goals, when it came to the finished product.
In less than two weeks, get ready to experience the second iteration of event production group Unicorn Meat's now-annual fall art party Illuminate! This time around, it's being held on Friday, September 27, one month earlier in the year, from 9pm-6am. Like any good self-respecting Brooklyn art party, Illuminate's location is yet to be revealed, but given Unicorn Meat's track record, we're confident that the cops won't shut this baby down (unlike the last Rubulad fête you attended (yeah, that one)). Also, make sure to leave your high school friends at home because this event is 21+.
This Labor Day weekend, a number of festivals took place across the nation. There was the North Coast Music Festival in Chicago, the Bumbershoot in Seattle, and Electric Zoo in New York (which ended a day early due to two fatalities). Then there was the Made In America festival in Philadelphia. The Benjamin Franklin Parkway was closed off in its entirety for this new American festival, which is only in it's second year running. Made In America was started and developed by Jay Z, with help from Budweiser, In its first year, the festival included names like Kanye West, Pearl Jam, Skrillex, The Hives, Afrojack, and Jay Z himself. For their sophomore year, they offered the talents of Beyoncé, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, 2 Chainz, Empire of the Sun, and so much more. It was destined to be a great festival because of such a line up, but we would have never thought that it would have left such a lasting impression on us.
The Made In America Festival will be taking over Philly this Labor Day weekend for its second year! The festival, sponsored by Budweiser and founded by Jay Z, is set to show up with a wide range of artists.
The line up consists of big stars and new acts alike, but when it comes to genre, there is no doubt that you can get them all. Dance your heart out with EDM artist such as Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, Calvin Harris, and Nero. You'll be getting your soulfull R&B through Beyonce and Miguel. You can rock out with Nine Inch Nails, Queen of the Stone Age, The Gaslight Anthem, and Phoenix. And of course, there's going to be a good amount of Hip Hop artists: 2 Chainz, A$AP Mob, Public Enemy, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore, and Wiz Khalifa. These are just a couple of the artists that will be showing up. Although Jay Z is not on the line up, don't be surprised if he stops by for a guest appearance.
Blurred Lines,by R&B heartthrob Robin Thicke, and featuring the talents of dirty south rapper T.I, and ingenious producer, Pharrell Williams,is arguably the hottest song of the summer. This past Friday, Thicke's label, Interscope Records, announced that the hit has broken unusual, skyrocketing, records for the highest radio audience ever.
In the world of R&B star R.Kelly, you can be trapped in the closet for eight years. It has been almost a decade since the last “Trapped in the Closet” installment - so long, that most of us probably do not remember what occurred in the last chapter. But don't worry, another chapter is on it's way!
