Reining it in from past seasons of embellished brights and quirky colors, ready-to-wear is taking back black and white is tagging along for the ride. Jil Sander and Narciso Rodriguez class it up, while other top designers like Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang move toward the edgier side of the contrasting colors.

For the past couple of years, the Brooklyn Bowl has become this weird place on the New York nightlife scene. Partying at a bowling center? Whoever thought of the idea deserves a lifetime supply of Chipotle for their genius. This place is the epicenter of coolness in the evolving borough with celebrity, guest DJs like Solange and Questlove. If you have yet to experience its awesomeness, we have the perfect opportunity to do so.
On Tuesday, June 5th the Brooklyn Bowl, in collaboration with the Denim and Supply collection at Ralph Lauren, presents a night of live music with the bands Man Man and Diamond Doves. The show is scheduled to run from 8pm to 11pm, so I am sure it will be jampacked with great performances, and who knows? There might be a few celeb faces in the crowd.
If you missed the first part of the Fashion, A-Z exhibit at Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) that ended May 8th, have no fear! The second exhibit is up and running until November 10th where more than 60 garments and accessories from FIT’s permanent collection will be on display for the public to view.
If you are not familiar with these fabulous fashion exhibits, we shall give you the run down. FIT organized two exhibitions titled “Fashion, A-Z: Highlights from the Collection of the Museum at FIT” and part two is currently on display. The presentation is set up in The Fashion and Textile History Gallery where 50,000 garments and 30,000 textiles from the museum’s vast collection have been meticulously combed through to bring together the best of the best for your enjoyment.
Fashion and music are two creative elements we love to enjoy separately, however, when the two join forces, they can make for an interesting concept. From Kanye West’s chic street style, to Lady Gaga’s crazed couture; there is one thing that is certain: when fashion and music combine you can expect some serious buzz. The latest collaboration is an unlikely pairing: Avicii and Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply!
Fashion Week is the week to know what is going to be treading, or should we say trending, our way in the coming seasons. The runway is of course where we all study styles and figure out what trends to prepare for. However "street chic" is just as much a part of the week as the runways. Some of the best styles and inspirations can be found on the streets of New York and fashion week just happens to be the time when all of these trend setters are baited into one single place by their common hunger for fashion. This, my friends, is the perfect opportunity for those who can't get into the shows, to find fashion forward looks!
Ralph Lauren has always been applauded for putting out sophisticated and classic designs, and this collection was no exception. With a mixture of 1920’s flapper, 1950’s Audrey Hepburn, and some fantastic outerwear, he has yet again reminded us why he is at the top of the fashion food chain.
Lauren showed the usual preppy, equestrian character through his daytime styles remaining simple and classic with the cuts, while getting a little wilder with the vibrant colors, miss-matching patterns like plaid and check, and yes, even leopard print. The chang-up created a stronger, riskier look to his signature style.
With NYFW here, we at Glam Damn It are hard at work, gearing up to bring you extensive coverage of all the fashionable festivities taking place throughout the city.
In the meantime, to satisfy all your fashion cravings, we present to you a sneak-peek of eight designs which will debut during the F/W 2012 New York, Milan and Paris shows, courtesy of WWD!
Enjoy!
