NIGHTLIFE NEWS
Steven Greenberg Loses Battle with Cancer

Family of Steven Greenberg confirmed late last night that the nightlife mogul passed away Saturday after a battle with lymphoma. Throughout his extensive career he partnered with Ian Schrager, and co-owned hotspots such as the Palladium, The Roxy, Gramercy Park Hotel, and the ever-popular 230 Fifth lounge in NYC's Flat Iron district.

Greenberg was known for his multiple endeavors from dabbling in publishing with Fame magazine from 1988-1991, to a "scandal" with a carpet cleaning business. He even put the late Whitney Houston on the cover of Fame magazine during a time when celebrities (let alone African American ones) were seldom put on magazine covers. Nevertheless, the gamble paid off and the issue sold huge numbers.

Making the Best of NYC's Frigid Winter

It's upon us. The brutal, infamous NYC winter. We already got a little taste of it with the recent (way too early!) snow storm. While we're enjoying a streak of beautiful fall days as of late, the pleasure won't last as the frigid winter sneaks upon us. It's inevitable, so we might as well make the best of all NYC has to offer during the winter months. As it is quite beautiful in its own right. While there’s something to make each season your favorite, we can’t help but love both summer concerts and winter galas. We have to admit that the allure of getting high off of crisp air and shopping on 5th just before Christmas, is insurmountable. It might be the fact that everything glistens, and glimmers, from the diamond shine of falling snow to the crackling warmth of your portable Manhattan fireplace. So in celebration of the coziest time of the year, here or our top things to do in and around NYC this winter.

Get Your Ice Skate On in NYC

The writers of Serendipity knew what they were doing over ten years ago when they
brought the chemistry-tensed John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale to Wollman’s Ice Skating
Rink. The allure of the ice, dazzling against lamp posts at night is highly
intoxicating. Whether you’re just meeting him or have been in it for life, a
date night at the winter ice skating rinks can make for a fun and sometimes
hilarious experience. Go on, who knows what fate will bring?

Wollman Rink Central Park

Nestled in the trees of Central Park, this ice skating rink is like the secret treasure
among every New Yorker. This is where we go to fall in love, to skim some hope
off the top of the constant sea of PDA, and to start new. This is definitely
the swankiest of rinks, with Chanel toting, Burberry jacketed clientele and
their CEO hubbies. The rink provides an intimate setting for each person, with
endless walking paths awesome events in and around it. Skates are a $14.75
rental fee.

EVENTS
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Thousands gathered last night for the two-hour Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony. Mayor Bloomberg hit the switch and the 74-foot Norway spruce lit up with 30,000 LED lights. A Swarovski crystal star topped off the tree. Some of the night’s performers included Jessica Simpson, who sang a duet with Petty Officer 3rd Class John Wesley Britt and Boyz II Men who sang Let It Snow. Kylie Minogue, decked out in a furry white cape, warmed up the crowd with her rendition of Santa Baby.

This year's tree was donated by the Acton family of Mahopac, NY. Peter Acton, a New York City fireman, attended the ceremony with his wife, Stephanie, and their two young children. Though the family had grown quite attached to the tree, they took comfort in the fact that the tree would be appreciated by millions of people. “If you had to cut down your tree and give it to any place, New York City is the place you’d want it to be,” said Mr. Acton.

YOUR 15 MINUTES ARE UP
Enrique Kisses a Fan Onstage

Apparently I was in the wrong place this morning, because Enrique Iglesias was kissing some random fan onstage at the Today show in NYC.

Enrique, whose new album 'Euphoria' was recently released, stopped by the show to perform for fans in Rockefeller Plaza.

The most exciting moment for the crowd (and depressing moment for me) came during the ballad 'Hero,' when ahem -- my boyfriend -- brought some random chick who wasn't me on stage to serenade and kiss.

Melissa -- the Bronx, N.Y. fan that the Latin pop star locked lips with -- bragged, 'It was nice ... I mean, it was hot. I'm thinking dirty thoughts."

Yeah, she better run.

Goo Goo Gaga!

Where do I begin... well maybe at the fact I haven't slept in 26 hours! Why, you might ask? For Lady Gaga of course! Yes all you Little Monsters out there, I was there this morning in Rockefeller Center for the sheer madness and beauty that Lady Gaga is. After meeting my friends in line at 9 p.m. last night we preceded to wait 9 hours for the show of our lives. The time went by surprisingly fast with help from my faithful line companions. We met gorgeous Little Monsters from all over the place: London, Ireland, Poland, and Chicago. Each and everyone amped me up for the show in their own way. I was getting random, but amazing, facts from these Monsters that made me love Lady Gaga more than I already did! Is that even possible? Yep!
