You may remember when Rusko dropped his freshest D&B track, “Lift Me Up,” at Ultra Music Festival in March. This happens to be the hit his Lift Me Up Tour revolves around, and we had the chance of seeing him last night when he landed at The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD.
We had no doubts that Rusko’s show would be great for several reasons. First, he’s Rusko. People come to see him live because he brings the energy and fun straight to the dance floor, which is exactly what most fans want. He doesn't bring the party; he is the party.

Having just begun his North American Lift Me Up Tour about ten days ago, Rusko, aka Chris Mercer, is set to blow up Silver Spring, MD, this upcoming Friday. His Lift Me Up EP, which was released on Skrillex’s OWSLA on July 2nd, explores his first love— drum & bass. Fans are accustomed to slow, heavy dubstep that Rusko has showcased in the past, such as “Jahova,” and “Woo Boost.” However, this EP is dedicated to the importance of following one’s heart, and doing what feels and sounds right.
Straight from the UK comes the dubstep DJ and producer Chris Mercer, also known as Rusko. This time he’s invading North America on his Lift Me Up Tour with Roni Size, Tonn Piper, and MC Dynamite. We had a chance to talk to Chris Monday night as he kicked off the tour with a bang in Gainesville, Florida. With a heart full of passion, Rusko discusses music, life, and friends.
How’s the tour going so far?
Awesome! This is the first day we’re doing with Roni. He just got here. I’ve been kind of bummed the past couple of days. All of our stuff just arrived from L.A., so I finally got all of my clothes, my Xbox, and my stash. I was kind of stoked that everything arrived. We’re a couple of days into the tour, but today feels like officially day one. The full tour crew is here, all the stage stuff is here, all the lights, everything is in place now. I’m counting this as day one. It’s going to be rocking.

The English DJ/Producer recently announced he'll be releasing all original music free from now on. He released the following statement:
"The natural thing for me to do is release “KAPOW” myself. How I want. The way I want and at the speed I want. It's about promotion and not profit - I want to give the fans the music in real time. If they can help me promote it too then it's essentially what a label does anyway but just without copyright restrictions. The fans are key in the success of “KAPOW.” If you like it, send it to a friend. I just want everyone to be able have my music if they want it."
Is this the future of the music industry? What do you think?
