On Tuesday, New Yorkers for Clean, Livable and Safe Streets (NYCLASS) hosted A Night of New York Class to help raise awareness for the fight against the New York carriage horse industry. The horses in the city are forced into terrible conditions, with already 14 horse deaths this year. The horses not only pound the pavement pulling heavy loads all day long, but they are also forced to battle through the elements, like snow and extreme heat, wear blinders so they cannot see traffic, and are often forced to stand throughout the night with not enough room to get a good nights sleep. NYCLASS is promoting an alternative to horse carriages, a horseless carriage modeled after the turn of the century vehicles.
Fergie's tour rider has been known to include "green juice." Radiant beauties such as Jennifer Garner and Emily Blunt have also been spotted on the streets from NY to LA sipping green. Mogul Russell Simmons is also a well-known advocate of healthy juice. Possibly, that's how those Victoria's Secret models stay so svelte?! Alessandra Ambrosio also enjoys her green juice.
While recipes vary, one thing is for certain. These green juices contain live enzymes and getting a full serving of vegetables in one juice and in one day is certainly a positive. Remember, how your parents would tell you to "eat your vegetables." Well now, in one fell-swoop or one fell-sip, you can drink them!
Mankind has always felt a need to decorate their surroundings, all the way back to our oldest ancestors with their crude cave drawings. Needless to say, [most] art has evolved and now with the Internet, it’s more accessible than ever. Enter Artspace.com, whose mission according to Chairman Christopher Vroom, “is to enable a broader group of people worldwide to collect art, to learn about artists, to learn about art galleries, institutions and nonprofits who are doing great things around the world.”
We have another new parent!

The setting - New York City. The film - Last Night. And for first time director, Massy Tadjedin, this star-studded cast of A-Listers proved her success at the Tribeca Film Festival. Welcome to the show.
Joining Eva Mendes in the movie are Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Guillaume Canet, Stephanie Romanov and Scott Adsit.
Speaking with Joonbug at the red carpet, Massy Tadjedin exclaimed that her good fortune at being able to work with such high profile personalities took, "a lot of luck and grace". Amazingly, the Harvard graduate's blockbuster script only took three weeks to write and a mere twenty-eight days to film.
Russell Simmons, the multi-millionaire Entrepeneur and Run DMC legend, flew in to NYC from Washington on Monday for the premiere of 'Last Night'; the new movie starring Eva Mendes, Sam Worthington and Keira Knightley.
Speaking with Joonbug before the premiere, he told us that he had been spending the weekend with the Obama's on an Easter Egg hunt. We told him that his shoes looked shiny and he replied with; "You know what? I was just thinking they were filthy because they were on the White House lawn".
Showing up the premiere with Rima Fakih in tow he said that he had been made to come and see it because; "The lady wanted to see Eva."
Last Night is a movie about infidelity and mistrust and is being premiered for the Tribeca Film Festival. It will be out in theaters May 20.
A little snow can’t stop the show! On March 10 2011 the hot and the fabulous embraced the gloomy weather and came out to celebrate the opening of The Mondrian Soho. You know it's a party when celebrities such as Russell Simmons, EVE, Olivia Palermo, Brad Goreski and Charlotte Ronson attend. The cocktail party took over the hotel’s lobby, the gorgeous Garden Room and awe-inspiring penthouse.
The night was filled with great entertainment. The Kills rocked the room with an incredible performance and New York’s hottest DJs, Harley Viera-Newton and DJ Kiss spun and got the crowd dancing till 4 in the morning.
Kevin Nealon- He may play a hilarious slacker/ pot head on the hit television series Weeds, but one thing Kevin is serious about is animal rights. He's been a proud vegetarian for the past 20 years, even partaking in a hilarious "vegetarian testimonial" for PETA. So maybe what comes from the earth really is the greatest worth?
Meat eater? As if!
Alicia Silverstone-
This adorable actress certainly isn't clueless when it comes to animal rights.
She has been a vegan for the past ten years, and was 2004's "Sexiest Vegetarian
Alive". Alicia is the author of "The Kind Diet" a book which shows you how
adopting a plant based diet can have you drop pounds, clear your skin, and leave
you with a fabulous new amount of energy. And for that we salute you Alicia.
He may only be 22 years old, but Jesse Marco is already well-established as one of New York City's most talented and sought-after DJs. His signature style and flair for mixing cross-genre classics, like Led Zeppelin and Jay Z or Michael Jackson and Nirvana, has caught the attention of some of the industry's biggest names, including Tom Ford, Russel Simmons, and Kanye West. Since he started spinning on his first turntables at the age of 12, his passion, talent, and dedication has taken him to the top, with a little help from DJ legends Mark Ronson and DJ AM. Don't miss your chance to get in on the action with Jesse Marco at Joonbug's Fashion Week Gala. Oh, and did we mention that he's also a model? How appropriate.
We here at joonbug have a deep appreciation for musicians who play at our parties. If it wasn’t for them, our parties would just be a bunch of people standing around staring at each other like a bad high school reunion. Who wants to party like that?
Nevertheless, we hold a special place on our website for people like O’neal Mcknight. Musician, stylist, and overall great person, O’neal is always ready to bring a positive attitude to everything he puts his mind to. His career is quickly rising to an astronomical level and I was privileged to conduct a follow-up to his Halloween interview to ask him questions about his thoughts on where he’s come from and what to expect for the coming year.
