BEHIND THE PLATE
Steakhouse Servers Nabbed in Credit Card Scam

NBC reported earlier this morning that "more than two dozen" servers from restaurants including Capital Grille, Smith and Wollensky and Wolfgang's have been arrested after being charged for partaking in a huge credit card scam.

According to the source, members of the waitstaff would target customers who "often paid with American Express Black cards" and other "high limit" cards and copy their info via handheld scanners. The servers would then buy big ticket retail items (Jimmy Choo shoes and Chanel merch among them) and then sell the new goods for cash. The total estimated cost of the "profits totaled" by the scam? At least $1 million dollars.

This might be a good weekend to consider going vegan.
