Five months after Ron Burkle took over as chairman of the group, Soho House has announced the second phase of an expansion plan that includes the launching of five new 'houses' over the next five years. While that probably doesn’t mean they’ll relax admittance standards, it does mean existing members will be able to enjoy international homes away from home.
Yes, just like your neighborhood coffee chain, the new Soho House locations will, at its core, remain similar, yet take on an inspired look from their respected surroundings.
Hump day can now be start of your weekend gastro-fest with Cecconi's launching their BMF Wednesday dinners tomorrow, June 6th. Located in the über chic Soho Beach House on South Beach, the garden-style Italian restaurant will be serving a weekly family-style prix fixe dinner reminiscent of the elaborate Italian suppers of a bygone era, when spending hours at the dinner table with friends and family was the norm. BMF stands for "Bring Me Food", and Executive Chef Sergio Sigala and Pastry Chef Oscar Bonelli are sure to bring plenty of food to the table with the ever-changing 4 course menu that will begin with a glass of prosecco with an assortment of cicchetti, the Italian answer to tapas. To follow will be a selection of two hearty pasta dishes served family-style, three entrées that will include a selection of signature pizzas, meats, and seafood, and a selection of three dolci (desserts) to share. The offerings will be different every week and will reflect the seasons, as well as local produce and seafood. If you're waiting for Miami Spice to kick off in August to get your dining deals, then Cecconi's BMF Wednesdays will be your foodie refuge until then. At $35 per person (everyone at the table must participate), these family dinners are a real steal!

The 24 year old son of composer Joseph Brooks is being questioned regarding this morning's murder of an unidentified woman in the Meatpacking District's landmark hotel, SoHo House. The woman was discovered lifeless in a bathtub in one of the hotel's upper floors. With no apparent trauma, the woman was said to have checked in with the younger Brooks yesterday evening. Brooks paid for the room for the young woman. Police were called after hotel guests on the floor below reported water leaking through the ceiling from the bathtub she was found in by staff.
Dining at Cecconi's is perhaps the only way that most of Miami will experience the exclusivity that is the SoHo Beach House. The prestigious club is rewarding Miamians with the opportunity to dine in their new Venetian-style restaurant. Former executive chef at Casa Tua, Sergio Sigala, brings a bit of everything from his parent restaurants in London and West Hollywood to the swanky eatery. Dishes will include a wide variety ranging from wood oven roasted scallops to Kobe beef tartare with truffle and pecorino. Not only will they offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but a Midnight Menu Thursdays through Saturdays. The space boasts 150 indoor/outdoor seats and a 200-plus-bottle international wine list. Amazingly, reservations are accepted to dine in style with Miami's elite.
With the success of Soho House in London, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin, the members only club finally makes its way to South Beach. The almost "too exclusive" club, Soho Beach House, is located on site of the historic Sovereign hotel, which has been redesigned and expanded to include a 16-story oceanfront tower. The beach house boast 50 rooms, a screening snug, 2 pools, a beach club, as well as a Cecconi's restaurant and an "expansive Cowshed spa". The spa caters to guest with several treatment rooms, as well as an active floor overlooking the oceanfront where members can arrange for yoga classes or a personal trainer.
A quick welcome to my new weekly column (and that was it if you missed it) and now lets get down to business.
And business it was last week especially for all the stores that participated in Fashion's Night Out, but more of that in a minute, first I want to talk about the sharp end of fashion week, the shows. I kicked off this season by taking a strut down to West Broadway to check out the new collection from Prince Peter, that cheeky little character talent who seems always to hang with the hippest and best looking people on the planet. As usual his show was full of great looking things draped in his designs and the liquor was free-flowing and plentiful which was a result for me because I then got a chance to eat it off by going in to see my old mate Kevin, the Maitre D at Balthazar which was, needless to say, filled to the brim as usual .
