Once upon a time, in the far away kingdom of the Netherlands, there lived a boy named Joel who grew up to be the man we know today, Oliver Twizt. We were inclined to know how he became Mr. Twizt, so we charmed him into giving us every last detail. Click here to see our review of Sandro and Oliver's set!
After having just bought a brand-spanking new gold watch, Sandro Silva came to DC along with Oliver Twizt, in support of their Mixmash Records fall tour. We could tell by the look on his face when he first met him how excited he was to be back in the district, spinning at Ultrabar for his first time. As Oliver performed downstairs, we spoke to Sandro before his set to hear about his new track, "Puna," (see below) in addition to the highlights of his tour and the significance of choosing the right record label. But he also told us the story behind a few of his tattoos and his relationship with Oliver. Read on to see what he had to say, and be sure to check out our review of their set.
When you listen to a track released on Spinnin’ Records, you expect to hear intense, electro-banging beats along the lines of Showtek, Quintino, and Martin Garrix. But yesterday (September 17th), Spinnin’ released the official music video for something quite different.
“Wicked Games” by Parra for Cuva ft. Anna Naklab is delicate, emotional, chill. It’s really too bad that we didn’t discover this track earlier, because it is the epitome of serene, summer nights. This is the song you want to listen to when you’re out at a rooftop bar with your friends, because the avant-garde beats distract listeners from its sadder connotations. But if you listen to lyrics as intently as we do, you’d realize that the song’s subject is much sadder than you initially thought. Almost instantly it becomes the song you want to listen to when you recognize that you're the same exact girl in the music video.
Nikki Beach’s Miami Music Week lineup just got a serious facelift—in addition to the previously announced Juicy Beach extravaganza, the iconic beach club will play host to Spinnin’ Records’ first ever MMW label showcase “Spinnin’ Sessions.”
The label has already announced massive headliners such as Cedric Gervais and Showtek for the March 20th soiree, with three surprise guests still remaining a mystery. And if you closely examine the imprint’s star-studded roster, you’ll realize that any surprise acts will be well worth a ticket.
