Attention cupcake connoisseurs! Sprinkles, the first official “cupcake-only” bakery from Candace Nelson (of Cupcake Wars fame), has come out with a new savory cupcake just in time for the beginning of fall: maple-bacon. It’s easy to be skeptical about Sprinkles jumping on the internet-fueled bacon bandwagon, but trust us, this is worth checking out.
When naming this cupcake, they definitely got the order right: it’s definitely more maple than bacon flavored. The Madagascar Bourbon vanilla cake is woven with crispy bacon bits that offer a suggestion of umami bacon flavor more than a straight up statement. Topped with a fantastic maple cream cheese frosting (at a perfect cake-to-frosting ratio), the sweet and savory flavors of the cupcake come together harmoniously with each bite.
The Bacon Maple cupcakes are only around from August 30th to September 15th, so we recommend stopping by to pick one up soon.
The Windsor: Both locations of this upscale sports bar will be offering menu specials that are holiday-appropriate, such as shepherd's pie, pastrami spring rolls, and Guinness chocolate cupcakes with Bailey's butter cream in a jar. The specials, along with the regular a la carte menu will be available, as well as exciting giveaways on March 16th and 17th.
Bill's Food & Drink: On March 16th, this midtown eatery will be offering delicious food and drink specials just blocks from the parade. Beginning at 11am in the ground-floor tavern, guests can enjoy a variety of $14 sandwiches and top it off with a Shamrock Soft Serve ice cream dessert, made with vanilla and creme de menthe. Not to mention, you can enjoy a pint of Guinness along with a tasting flight of Irish Whiskey's such as Knappogue Castle, Middleton Very Rare, and Bushmills. The main dining room will also be open for lunch.
Cupcakes on the go are all the rage these days - first with Sprinkles Cupcakes ATMs, and now with Baked by Melissa's cupcake pod machine. The cupcake dispenser, which resembles a giant gumball machine, made its debut during New York Fashion Week, but those who were hoping to see it gracing city streets are out of luck.
The pod machine is now only available to rent for events, with a 1,000 cupcake minimum for five hours, which fills half the machine. Make a selection between either 1,000 standard variety cupcakes for $4,200 or 1,000 custom cupcakes for $4,300. Up your game by ordering 2,000 minis for $5,000 or $5,200, depending on which cakes you order. Any additional cupcakes go for $1.30 each.
