On the heels of the major conflict SOPA brought regarding freedom on the internet is some sad news for many. Megaupload, everyone’s favorite file-sharing site was shut down by the federal government. Like a true soap opera, this only happened shortly after it was revealed that Megaupload’s CEO was none other than Swizz Beatz, successful producer, NYU professor, and husband to the talented and gorgeous Alicia Keys. This came out in a video advertising Megaupload with the backing of several major celebrities. The site’s founder, Kim "Dotcom" Schlitz, has been jailed along with many of Megaupload’s employees. While Schlitz has been known to have a shady past, many are in the dark about what Megaupload employees are to be charged with.
Listen to the debut of a brand new remix of Seun Kuti’s new single, “Rise.” Legendary producer Swizz Beatz puts his touch on the latest from the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer and global music luminary, Fela Kuti.
This track is fresh off Kuti’s sophomore album, From Africa With Fury: Rise. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro with co-producers Brian Eno and John Reynolds, “Rise” kicks more than some serious bass. The album finds Seun to be very topical and political. The song "Rise,” for example, takes government and corporate corruption to task, calling out Halliburton, among others, directly by name. His father was famous for his outspoken politics so it is fitting that the album resonates with themes of responsibility, anti-establishment, and conscious black power rhetoric.
The Cool Kids -- When Fish Ride Bicycles::
After years of fans waiting and being teased by announcements that the Cool Kids would be releasing their first official LP "soon" and then dropping mixtapes instead, the hip-hop duo will finally be giving their fans what they want on July 12th. The Album, When Fish Ride Bicycles, dominates summer anthem territory with cameos from Ghostface Killah, Bun B, Travis Barker and more. After the success of their EP, The Bake Sale, enormous hype surrounded their old school hip-hop revival sound and brilliantly self-aware rhymes. With such a high-profile Rolodex of guest appearances on When Fish Ride Bicycles, there is no doubt that the album will justify all the hype. The Cool Kids have transitioned from an underground sensation to the hottest ticket in the booths. Stand out tracks like "Bundle Up," "Penny Hardaway" and "Rush Hour Traffic" will be flooding your speakers this summer with their old school, golden age hip hop flare and knocking bass.

Reek Da Villian's new music video is now online. I love this old school touch. We have here Reek Da Villian, Busta Rhymes, and Swizz Beatz having fun in a garage. Xzibit should like the video.
It's good to find some original hip hop nowadays. This doesn't look like a Swizz Beatz instrumental. Some say RZA used this soul music song before with Method Man. Well it sounds like a beat sampled by RZA. Anyway you now know where to go you need to have your car repaired.
This is going to be a name dropping article. We have in this "Carry It" song a team of famous guys : Travis Barker from Blink 182, Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine, Raekwon and RZA who are in the Wu-Tang. Travis Barker who originally is a punk music drummer worked with a lot of hiphop stars this year : Lil Wayne, A-Trak (DJ), T.I, and Waka Flocka.
He also called Rick Ross, B.o.B, Swizz Beatz, Ludacris, and members of Linkin Park and Slipknot to work on his collaborative solo album called "Give the Drummer Some".
This album sould be released in february. Raekwon said about "Carry It" : "This is beautiful, man. This is going to be a f**king hit record." Well I do love Raekwon and Wu-Tang's music in general. However, I found this song pretty boring. Tom Morello's guitar solo is pretty cool, but that's it.
Congratulations to the beautiful Alicia Keys and her talented husband, Swizz Beatz! She gave birth to a boy, named Egypt Daoud Dean last week.
Both Alicia and her boo seem overjoyed about their first child together.
Can't wait to see pictures! A star in the making, maybe?
