Besides the epic performances and awards, one of our favorite parts of awards shows is the fashion! Some celebrities really called on their inner fashion gods and goddesses last night. And some just well... didn't. Take a look at some our favorite celebrities who got it right and rocked the red carpet at the 2013 American Music Awards last night.
She didn't rock a dress adorned with Biggie and Tupac's face this time around (although she did wear a 2 piece get up adorned with cats during her performance). Miley decided to keep it classy at this award's show and she strolled down the red carpet in a simple Versace pantsuit.
Taylor Swift is one of the faces of Cover Girl cosmetics and she does have the required height to be a model, but could she be a Victoria Secret Angel? A lot of the current angels such as Lily Aldridge would be happy if Taylor became one of them; however, there is one angel out there that doesn’t think Taylor is a justifiable addition to their group in the runway.
Taylor was very enthusiastic about performing at this year’s Victoria Secret Fashion show this past Wednesday. Hours after the show, she wrote on instagram that she was “still reliving” being in the show. The other models seemed to have had a good time sharing the stage with her as well. They had been all smiles when they posed with her for their “class of 2013” photo; but, as it turns out, model Jessica Hart doesn’t think Taylor is ready to join them permanently. At an after party, Jessica answered "no" when she was asked by WWD magazine if Taylor could “pull it off as a Victoria Secret model.” Jessica then went on to say to the following statement:
It's like it's the early 2000's again with Eminem filling recent headlines. Now his Oscar winning smash hit "Lose Yourself," from the iconic movie 8 Mile, has gone through a slight Hick-Hop makeover thanks to Taylor Swift, who covered the song when she stopped by Pittsburgh radio station, Froggy. Armed with her acoustic guitar, T.Swift lays down some rap bars and adds in some country vibes to the chorus.
The track is already a hit! Maybe she will make an extended version? hopefully!

Music star Taylor Swift will be hitting the silver screen once again in The Giver. Although her role has not yet been revealed, The Weinstein Company did announce recently that Taylor has officially been cast in their film adaptation of the popular young adult novel written by Lois Lowry. Taylor will be co-starring alongside Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges. Other cast members include Alexander Skarsgard and Katie Holmes. The movie will be directed by Phillip Noyce.
The film is set in an utopian futuristic society where people are ceremoniously given a lifetime assignment at the age of twelve. In the story, a young boy named Jonas (played by Brenton Thwaites) is given the task of receiving the memory of his town from someone called the Giver (Jeff Bridges). Through his adventure with the Giver, Jonas learns that the seemingly idealistic society he lives in comes at a price.
The annual MTV VMAS took place last night at the Brooklyn Barclays Center. This year the VMAS was more of a circus act than an actual award ceremony; there were a lot of random and excting moments that took place that will have us talking about it for the next couple of weeks...and maybe even years.
Here is a brief summary of the bizarre antics and reactions of yesterday:
The usually provocative singer was shockingly tame for her comeback to the VMAs stage and performance of her new single, "Applause." Lady Gaga opened the VMAs in white cardboard box. There was no meat dress or blood (like previous years), but the diva went through a number of costume changes during her act, eventually ending up in a mermaid inspired bra and thong.
Last night, MTV's annual Video Music Awards went down in no other than Brooklyn, New York at the new Barclays Center. With a theme based around the history and culture of the infamous borough, this award show was definitely something to see.
The show kicked off immediately with a performance by Lady Gaga. At this point no one is surprised by here unusual outfits, which she switched seamlessly throughout her performance of "Applause".

Recently, Joonbug had the opportunity to sit down with Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss creator of the popular Shoshanna fashion line. A proud New Yorker, Shoshanna creates pieces that can easily take you from work to after-work-cocktails and from week-day to weekend. Her flattering designs transcend limitations and perhaps that's why many of your favorite celebrities and TV personalities such as Taylor Swift, Maria Menounos, Rosario Dawson, Zooey Deschanel and Miranda Lambert opt to wear the Shoshanna collection. What's refreshing about the line, besides the vast and flirty designs is the fact that the pieces are priced well and Shoshanna (a socialite) is very down-to-earth. She is the master of "that dress." The one dress that you'll reach for again and again (and the one you'll receive all the compliments on). After this interview, we are really getting excited for Spring! Now, if the weather in Manhattan would just cooperate.
