Abandon the sofa and grab your coat—New York City has some of the best Oscar viewing parties around! The Academy Awards air this Sunday, and since it's of the biggest televised events of the year, plenty of venues are putting on celebrations filled with trivia, specialty cocktails, and of course, big screen TVs.
This music venue and multimedia art cabaret is hosting The Big Oscars Quiz Thing, an annual party and live trivia experience. The game show-like event will test you and your friends, pitting teams of attendees against each other to answer questions on the movie industry, music, history, sports, and more (you write answers on their Big Quiz Thing Answer Pad to avoid any form of shouting-out-incorrect-answers humiliation). The night starts at 5:30 pm, with the trivia contest preceding red carpet and award show fun. Tickets are $15, but $10 in advance.
The Windsor: Both locations of this upscale sports bar will be offering menu specials that are holiday-appropriate, such as shepherd's pie, pastrami spring rolls, and Guinness chocolate cupcakes with Bailey's butter cream in a jar. The specials, along with the regular a la carte menu will be available, as well as exciting giveaways on March 16th and 17th.
Bill's Food & Drink: On March 16th, this midtown eatery will be offering delicious food and drink specials just blocks from the parade. Beginning at 11am in the ground-floor tavern, guests can enjoy a variety of $14 sandwiches and top it off with a Shamrock Soft Serve ice cream dessert, made with vanilla and creme de menthe. Not to mention, you can enjoy a pint of Guinness along with a tasting flight of Irish Whiskey's such as Knappogue Castle, Middleton Very Rare, and Bushmills. The main dining room will also be open for lunch.
The only thing better than football season is Super Bowl night. Friends, food, and brews. That's really all you need for a good time. Oh, and a prime spot to view it all. We've got the best spots to watch the Ravens and 49ers duke it out and with plenty of special deals, everyone will go home a winner.
The Windsor & The Windsor Gansevoort Park: Recently opened, Windsor Gansevoort Park will be throwing an off-the-hook superbowl party starting at 4pm. There will be a live DJ accompanying the four large flat screens that line the walls. Each banquet also has its own personal flat screen TV. The Windsor's original location will also be throwing a viewing party along with fresh, seasonal cocktails and gourmet comfort food.
Last week, the second location of The Windsor opened up in the Gansevoort Park Avenue Hotel. The Windsor is a high-end sports bar with large, dark cherry banquets, as well as multiple large flat screen TVs. The two-floor space offers a spiral staircase to the second floor VIP area and prized sports memorabilia throughout the venue.
The menu features gourmet comfort food created by Crown Group Hospitality's executive chef Jason Hall, in collaboration with Kristine Mana-ay. Items such as sliders, tartar, pizzas, BLT, and truffle grilled cheese will be served. Head mixologist, Ben Scorah developed the beverage menu, which will feature seasonal drinks inspired by London's 90s club era. The menu will also include low calorie cocktail options and all cocktails are served up with fun names like the Porn Star Martini or the Sloney Pony. Additionally, there will be two different shot flights available where guests can choose a liquor of their choice.
