BEHIND THE PLATE
Simon Cowell Taps into Foodie T.V.

Introducing The D.O.T.

Following the announcement earlier this year that he would no longer make music under the moniker, “The Streets,” there was reason to wonder what Mike Skinner would do next. Creative forces like Skinner don’t just ride off into the sunset and disappear. The answer arrived this week in the form of The D.O.T., Skinner’s new project with Rob Harvey, formerly of The Music.

Although The D.O.T. started uploading videos to YouTube back in August, news of the group’s formation slipped beneath the radar until Skinner released a statement to The Guradian on Monday. Skinner described the project to The Guardian as follows: "It's like one of those buddy movies from the 80s where the dream is impossible until they both make each other see things in themselves that they previously didn't know." Skinner did not reveal what the acronym "D.O.T." stands for.

Gaga Goes Bald

Lady Gaga performed her single "Hair" on the Paul O'Grady show on Friday.

She performed her usually upbeat song alone on a piano covered in hair. The piano had a blue wig atop it, in which Lady Gaga put on mid-song to cover her "bald head" (the artist was wearing a bald cap). She had this Stevie Wonder-esque look to her with her big black sunglasses on as she jabbed at the piano keys.

Her message here is clear "She is as free as her hair". Whether she has hair or not, it is her prerogative, she can be whoever she wants to be.

The song undoubtedly tackles the debate about freedom of expression amongst the youth of America.

Check out a video of her performance below.

Pippa Middleton Parts Ways with Boo

Pippa the playa is single again!

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was a truly spectacular affair indeed. It is quite commendable that despite this day and age, the world can still very much respect a traditional and historical event such as this and celebrate it.

BUT, we are in the modern era after all. Aside from the marriage everyone was waiting for, the true center of the wedding was arguably Pippa Middleton, the beautiful little sister of Kate. Almost instantly, a star was born. However, after only a couple of months in the heavy spotlight, Pippa has broken up with boyfriend Alex Loudon, a former cricket player for England. Reports say that their relationship had taken a backseat to her newfound fame.

Emma Watson Talks Decision to Drop Out

After announcing in March that she was leaving Brown University, (she stayed for less than 18 months) Emma Watson finally talks about her choice. The actress makes it clear that rumors of bullying and others' jealousy of her fame were simply untrue.

She fires back, “Anyway, even if I was being given a hard time, I wasn’t going to wuss out of university because someone said ‘Wingardium leviosa’ to me in a corridor, or ‘Ten points for Gryffindor,’...I’ve been dealing with the media since I was nine. If I can’t stand up to a few people giving me a hard time, it’s a bit pathetic, really. I’ve had so much worse.” Well-said. Hermione would have said the same thing. Seems like the tough years in the spotlight has given Watson more education than any school could teach.

Cheryl Cole Gets Fired Twice

Talk about adding insult to injury. Times two.

Simon Cowell's new upcoming talent show The X Factor, which will make its debut in the fall, is stirring up the controversy as reports of newly added judge Cheryl Cole already being given the boot. British pop superstar Cheryl, 27, has previously appeared with Cowell in the U.K. version of the show for three seasons and was ecstatic when it was announced earlier this month that she will be judging for the U.S. installment, alongside Cowell, Paula Abdul, and L.A. Reid. Also, as of recently, it has been announced that only was she out of her new gig, her original position as a judge for the U.K. version is being revoked as well!
