If you stop to think about it, symphonic music is probably one of the most ubiquitous sounds out there. You hear it everywhere from movies to television to Starbucks. It's probably not the first thing on your bucket list, but attending a live symphony or opera can be an unforgettable experience.
The soothing, classical sounds of Schoenberg and Mozart drifted throughout Dreyfoos Hall at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach last week. The music created by the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Gloriœ Dei Cantores choir was as exquisite as the detailed gold and red velvet decor of the theater itself. Soprano Valentina Fleer, soprano Julie Cherrier, tenor Eric Barry and baritone Benjamin Bloomfield added another layer of luxurious sound to the concert.

Despite the fact that big summer shows like Christina Aguilera have been cancelled due to high ticket prices and the drowning economy, the Warped Tour continues to thrive. With a lineup that includes 50 plus bands for far less than $50, the tour continues to sell out venues across the country including Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, which will host the show Saturday, July 24.
In anticipation of the all-day celebration of punk music, Mike Rothman sat down with one of the headliners, Sum 41 drummer and co-founder Steve Jocz to talk about the band’s new album “Screaming Bloody Murder” set to be released October, the Warped Tour itself and how it helped form Sum 41, and even a bit about the Avril Lavigne breakup.
Two major acts announced upcoming shows in South Florida. John Mayer will be performing at the Cruzan Amphitheater in West Palm Beach on September 11. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, June 4 at 10am, and are sure to sell quickly. The Goo Goo Dolls will be at Bayfront Park on August 14, tickets are on sale now.
