Hit the Roof
Temps are gradually on the frosty decline, so make sure to hit your favorite rooftop boite spots before they close for the season. On our list? The new Murray Hill meet’s midtown, Pod 39 Hotel’s rooftop bar and lounge. The two-story roof space of the micro-hotel, formerly in the landmarked Allerton House is all about being festive, with terra cotta columns and benches, Mexican tiled tables, and, best of all, specialty tequilas and cocktails by notable NY mixologists like also of East Villages’ Booker & Dax. Not to mention, the panoramic views and the soon to launch nosh menu will feature a handful of “April Bloomfield-style” tacos, made with things like pig ear and sweetbreads.
Pod 39 Hotel is located at 145 East 39th St., Murray Hill 212.865.5700.
Electric Beach Celebrates 1-Year
It's hard to believe that it's been one whole year since the debut of the Electric Beach series at Santos Party House. Recent headliners include the EC Twins, Tim Mason and this week celebrate with London based DJ, Mat Zo. This young producer is soaring with his no limits style and continues to thrive in a mix of different genres.
An impeccable choice, Mat Zo has become a leading artist in both the trance and drum & bass genres. He has even topped the Beatport charts in both genres at the same time. In the last 12 months alone, his tracks like “Bipolar”, “Superman,” and “Frequency Flyer” dominate the Beatport charts. Similarly, his French-house influenced remix of Above & Beyond’s “Thing Called Love” has found its way into the sets of A-Trak, Afrojack, Porter Robinson, Steve Aoki and Roger Sanchez.
