Top Gear USA is celebrating their premiere on the The History Channel Sunday by giving a ride to anyone in New York City. Not a gear head? No need to be. Head to Bryant Park Wednesday, November 17 till Friday, November 19 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. to take a passenger’s seat in one of six hot cars. Take a free quick ride around a few city blocks in the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Maserati Quattroporte, Lamborghini Gallardo Superlegerra, Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren or the Dodge Viper Coupe. The ride is free and the lines are not long.
Top Gear is the UK’s most popular series and it is hitting the U.S. The show will focus on driving, extreme stunts, challenges, car reviews, celebrity interviews and the history of automobiles featuring super cars. Professional race driver Tanner Foust, actor and comedian Adam Ferrara and racing analyst Rutledge Wood, will host it.
You can’t miss the action on the corner of 41st and 6th Avenue. All the cars are yellow vinyl-wrapped. The Top Gear “Taxis” arrived Tuesday morning and I showed up Wednesday for my ride. I wasn’t choosy and took a ride from Dani in the Ferrari 599 GTB (No, you can't drive the cars). She knows about all the cars with working for Manhattan Motorcars but has stuck with the Ferrari for this Top Gear promo. Ask any of the drivers anything. They are friendly and know how to drive these cars.
The Top Gear trio didn’t make an appearance, but seek out any of the production members with iPads in hand to chat about the show, watch promos and chat about the cars.
Top Gear premieres on The History Channel Sunday, November 21 at 10 PM ET/PT. For a taste, check out the slideshow below.
