Major Lazer front man, Diplo ,took to Twitter recently to announce the upcoming release of their next EP. There is no confirmed title or date to it yet, but it has been confirmed that some big names will be featured on this project. Pharrell - the man who was somehow a part of every big hit in 2013 will be on there, as well as dancehall reggae phenoms Sean Paul and Elephant Man will be part of it as well. I told you guys before, Diplo is a force not to be reckoned with. He took over 2013, and is now in preparation to takeover 2014 as well. Check out his two hour 2013 round up mix, and be alert for some new fire from Major Lazer out soon.— Kim K Mutumbo (@diplo) January 4, 2014
It is known to everyone by now that Hardwell is the biggest name in EDM right now as he topped DJ Mag's 2013 Top DJ's in the world list at number 1. Now that it's 2014, it doesnt look like he plans on giving up his crown. With a new music video for his latest hit with Matthew Koma, "Dare You", he is coming into the new year with full head of steam. Check the video out below, and let us know who you think will be the best DJ of 2014.
2013 was easily Diplo's most succesful year of his career, as he headlined multiple festivals, lead his own Mad Decent festival over the summer, produced hit records, released multiple solo and Major Lazer projects, and was pretty much at the forefront of everything that was dope in the music industry. So for him to make a 2013 recap mix was innevitable, which he released on his BBC1XTRA radio show, Diplo & Friends. Containing songs from almsot every hot artist this year - Disclosure, Baauer, DJ Snake, Daft Punk, Showtek, Matt Zo, and more - this mix truly represents what 2013 was made of. Diplo's reign is far from dying out, so expect more big things from this dude in 2014.
With a plethora of shows to choose from in the New York City area this New Years Eve, there had to be some difficulty for people to choose which party to go to. But those that were smart and fortunate enough to attend Joonbug's New Years Eve party at Pier 36, were in for an amazing night, and we're not just saying that because it was our party! DJ Mag was right when they rated this party as #1 in the country for NYE. It truly was an experience that only happens once a year.
From the very entrance of the venue, you could feel the energy to quickly build into something euphoric. With Michelle Francheska opening the show, everything was fallling right into place. The venue was very spacious, the sound system was spectacular (extremely loud, yet still clear), the massive stage and video screen, the 3-hour incluseive open bar was top knotch as well. All the elements were set for what was going to be one of the best nights of the year.
Showtek is getting ready to play at the biggest New Years show in New York, hosted by the one and only Joonbug.com. The duo has also just released an absolute banger to celebrate their the launching of their new record label, Skink Records. "We Like To Party" is outrageous and will have people going nuts this Tuesday night! Stream it below, and get your copy of it now at Beatport.
Pacha NYC is known for bringing some of the best artists from across the planet to play on their stage every weekend, and this weekend was no different. With a jam-packed schedule this past Saturday, they hosted Hardwell before he hit Pier 94 and then after him was a set from Jon Gooch aka Feed Me came to take over the decks for a set. A big contrast in sound to say the least, but the crowd was ready for what to come.
Heavy dubstep and bass bounced off the walls throughout the night like a round of ricocheting bullets. He played tracks from his latest release, Calamari Tuesday, as well as some of his old jams like "One Click Headshot" and "Trapdoor". This was an amazing show for any fan of the multi-faceted prodcuer. He even played an unreleased track that he is working on with the one and only Skrillex, which can be heard below!
