Num Pang + Mario Batali = Batali Pang
Num Pang and Mario Batali team up to create a sandwich for a good cause

Owners of Num Pang Sandwich Shop, Ben Daitz and Ratha Chaupoly have teamed up with Mario Batali to create a super sandwich that will benefit the Food Bank for New York City and the Cambodian Children's Fund. The sandwich, called the Batali Pang, is comprised of cotcchino sausage, balsamic pickled onions and cacio de Roma cheese, folded into the the traditional Num Pang fixings (chili mayo, pickled carrots, cucumber, and cilantro on toasted semolina flour baguette). The Batali Pang launches today (and lasts for one month) and is available at both Num Pang locations for $9.75 ($6 of every sandwich will go to charity).

This collaborative effort will be the first of many as part of Num Pang Guest Chefs Give Back, a 2012 program that allows the owners and their colleagues to team up and create a limited edition num pang to raise money for charity. "I’ve been a huge fan of num pang (and Ratha and Ben) since they opened up their shop on 12th street,’ says Chef Batali. “It feels really good to be involved in their efforts. Their energy and enthusiasm for supporting a cause close to my heart means a lot. And I’ve got a namesake pang now – how cool is that?!!" Very cool, Mario. We look forward to trying this out and many more new pangs to come!
