Tea: The Natural Way to Allergy Relief
Fight your spring nemesis with these herbal teas!

With a mild winter, spring has arrived early this year and the warm weather has been welcomed with open arms --unless you are a seasonal allergy sufferer!

The buds are already starting to bloom and symptoms of sneezing, runny noses, itchy eyes and scratchy throats are starting to become apparent to some. Most have chosen the method of taking over-the-counter medications for temporary relief. However, in this city, who has time to feel groggy all day? Like any New Yorker, allergies can be a burden and slow down your busy day.

With tea shops popping up all over the city, and trends of weight-loss tea diets, anti-aging and stress-relieving teas, it is no surprise that certain blends might also help relieve allergies.

In past years, studies have been done to show that some green, herbal and rooibos teas can help relieve your allergy symptoms. These teas are enriched with anti-oxidants that help fight the discomfort of allergies. Just like Claritin or Benadryl, tea has been proven to get histamine to run through the bloodstream because quercetin and rutin (the bioflavonids that help to fight stress in the environment as well as humans) are also in tea and act just like medication but without any side effects.
