Gastronomie 491, a new gourmet specialty market and cafe opened yesterday to the public. The market features a cafe, open kitchen, prepared foods, artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, chocolates and baked goods, as well as gluten-free items. Every product has been personally chosen by owner Nicole Ahronee, with a focus on artisanal products from small producers made with all natural ingredients-- both locally and around the world.
Enjoy shopping for seasonal fruits and veggies, pick up items for a picnic in Central Park, or dine at the cafe. Food is prepared by executive chef Steve Gutterman and sample goods with Martin Johnson, the cheese, charcuterie, and beer expert.
For breakfast, try goods like quiche, lemon ricotta pancakes, and brioche french toast. For lunch, go for some baked cavatappi pasta (with taleggio cheese sauce and radicchio) or cosican shrimp (chickpea cream, peperonata). Then wind down your day with free range beef and vegetable kabobs or spice crusted salmon.
