Barrio 47 Has The Eats and The Drinks
Our review of the West Village Mediterranean restaurant!

West Village restaurant Barrio 47 is not just your run-of-the-mill eatery. Enter into the dimly lit, exposed brick restaurant and choose from a seat at the bar, a private table, or a communal table and get ready to feast like a king. The Mediterranean cuisine has a Spanish, French, and Italian influence served up by Chef Miguel A. Rosado from the outstanding red wood fire brick oven for all to see. Brothers Alex and Roman Volland head up this eight month old Village staple, who have had plenty of experience in the food world. Growing up in Paris, the brothers come from a family of foodies (their mother owned a restaurant), and have embarked on numerous projects at bars and restaurants around NYC. It is clear that they brought their old hat experience to Barrio 47, where the atmosphere it top notch, with food and drinks to match.

Menu favorites include the Portuguese Octopus, Mayan Shrimp, and Summer Truffle Ricotta Ravioli. A real crowd-pleaser at this venue is the Farm to Fire special every Tuesday, that features a smoky cut of meat or fish for $25, along with two side dishes. Barrio 47 also hosts 'I Bloody Love Brunch' on Saturdays and Sundays, where patrons can select from a variety of Bloody Mary's to pair with their brunch dish. Not to mention, their weeknight happy hour from 5-7 featuring $1 oysters. This hoppin' spot will also be launching their new Farm to Shaker event September 10th, where the bartenders will be creating cocktails using ingredients from the farm.

Oh and did we mention their outstanding cocktail menu? That's right, this place isn't just all about the food. Ten specialty cocktails ($14) are shaken up to perfection - including the Barrio Especial (Mount Gay Barbados rum, infused with lemon grass and vanilla bean, passion fruit puree, lemon sugar) and El Diablo (homemade habanero vanilla bean tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, Combier, cholula spicy salsa, spiced salt rim), both completely different and equally unique and delicious.

If you haven't been to check out this worthy spot downtown, then now is the time to book your reservation!
