Opening Alert: New Restaurants Tackle the City

One way to rebuild this great city might be to offer NYers some serious fine dining. Check out some of the latest openings around town. What could be better than giving your tastebuds a tantalizing adventure while  supporting budding small businesses too.

El Toro Blanco: John McDonald of Lure Fishbar fame and chef Josh Capon are bringing fresh Mexican cuisine to the West Village. The restaurant will feature a 10-seat tequila bar with more than 100 labels, as well as a guacamole bar. Chef Capon, along with Scott Linquist, developed the pan-Mexican menu, which emphasizes seasonal grilled items. The space features a fiery grill, glazed bricks, and cozy paneled walls.

Aamanns-Copenhagen: Opening November 2nd, this restaurant will offer Tribeca a true Danish experience. Sanne Ytting and chef Adam Aamann collaborated on opening the 2000 sq. ft. space. The menu focuses on smørrebrød, a traditional Danish dish and features a seasonal selection of meats and seafood. The resto will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and will offer Danish desserts, as well as beer and wine from Denmark and abroad.

LeChurro: Recently opened Upper East Side dessert-fest hub, this new spot offers only a select few items like a variety of churros, from traditional to chocolate-covered and even mini churros doused in maple syrup. There are also a number of other dipping sauces you can choose from like caramel and chocolate. And, enjoy numerous coffees and hot chocolate drinks, including Brownie Shots and Nutella Hot Chocolate. We're gaining 5 lbs just writing about the sweet indulgences offered at LeChurro.

Krescendo: On par with the trend of Top Chef contestants opening up shop in the city, Top Chef Masters contender Elizabeth Falkner opens up Italian pizza joint Krescendo in Boreum Hill. The new spot, decorated with midcentury lamps and a cork and wooden floor, sounds like it will exude classic Italian flavor. Falkner will top her pizzas with grains, vegetables, and spices and offer classic Italian cocktails.
