TEQUILA! It's the liquor we all hate to love and love to hate the morning after. This Friday is National Margarita Day and in honor of one of the most classic cocktails around, New York City is offering up some choice deals. Order one of these bad boy margs or concoct one yourself using the recipes below. 

Sotto 13, the Italian hot spot which recently opened in West Village, offers 2 varieties of delicious margaritas. Their signature Watermelon Margarita is made with watermelon-infused pavoneo blanco tequila, fresh watermelon juice and citrus squeeze. Also on the menu is their Mango Margarita, with pavoneo blanco tequila and fresh mango puree. Both can be purchased for $12. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The 40/40 Club, Jay Z's upscale restaurant and sports lounge, offers mouth-watering margaritas made with Jose Cuervo tequila and come in passion fruit, peach, strawberry and mango. The bar reopened last year following a $10 million renovation and expansion to include stadium style seating, 5 exclusive lounges and gold plated baseball bats lining the wall. 40/40's margaritas can be purchased for $13. 
 
 
Lantern’s Keep, the intimate cocktail salon located inside the historic Iroquois Hotel in the Theater District is a dimly-lit secret gem that serves perfectly-crafted artisan cocktails. Celebrate National Margarita Day with their Tequila Maid, made with tequila, lime, shaken with mint & cucumber for $15.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Hakkasan New York is celebrating this momentous day with their signature Bird's Eye Margarita for $17. The fun cocktail is made with bird's eye chili-infused llegal Joven Mezcal, Pierre Ferrand dry curacao, lime juice, agave nectar, pineapple juice and creole bitters. Enjoy the tasty cocktail in their Ling Ling Lounge or with a meal in the main dining room. 
 
 
Spice Market will be celebrating National Margarita Day by serving its signature Ginger Margarita pitchers at half price, just $24. The boozy concoction was created by Jean-Georges Vongerichten and includes Sauza 'Hornitos' Reposado Tequila, ginger, lime, and ginger salt. You can even make it yourself, with this recipe

Nitehawk Cinema will not only be screening choice movies based in Mexico City all night, but they will also be serving up $5 margaritas and Mexi-cans (Tecate and tequila shot). Check out thriller Santa Sangre after you loosen up in the cafe starting at 7pm and enjoy the music of Long Distance Poison.

Marcha will be serving up two unique margaritas for $11 that will pair perfectly with their Spanish tapas. Try their Tequila + Guava Margarita, made with Herradura Silver, Cointreau, guava puree, lime juice, and star anise syup, or their Marcha Margarita, made with Herradura Silver, lime juice, agave, egg white, D'Aristi Xtabentun bitter and Aztec chocolate bitters.

Mango Margarita (Served at Rogue & Canon)
½ oz. lime juice
2 oz. mango puree
½ oz. agave nectar
2 oz. reposado tequila

Build in tin. Shake with ice and strain into rocks glass with ice and sprinkle chipotle seasoning on top. Garnish with lime.

6 oz. tequila
2 oz. Triple Sec
6 oz. limeade concentrate
2 cups ice
1 chopped avocado
6 oz. water

Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth. Serve.




Little Hottie
(Served at David Burke Kitchen & Treehouse Bar)

1 ¾ oz. Centenario Reposado Tequila
¾ oz. Canton ginger Liqueur
¾ oz. cinnamon agave nectar
½ oz. each of lemon and lime juice
2 dashes Tabasco Sauce

Shake and strain over fresh ice into rocks glass- garnish with "Beef Burkey," spicy jerkey made in house.

2 oz. Tequila 
½ oz. Agave Nectar
oz. Lime Juice

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Shake and strain into a coupe glass rimmed with salt. Top with lavender/hibiscus foam.

(Served at TOY restaurant)
Juice of one whole watermelon (create 2 quarts of watermelon juice)
Juice 1 whole peeled cucumber
Whole Cucumber Sliced Thin
4 oz.  Fresh Lime Juice
8 oz. of Blanco Tequila
5 Sprigs Fresh Basil
½ oz. Balsamic Vinegar
Pinch of salt
4 oz. Simple Syrup
Limes sliced thin

Add ingredients into large pitcher. Stir vigorously, add ice to mix. Add watermelon chunks. Serve in wine glass.
