Hand Crafted Tasting Co. is at it again with their Spring Seasonal installment of the NYC Craft Beer Festival. This season’s brew showcase, held on March 30th, is focused on American craft breweries and their spring released libations. Held at the historic 69th Regiment Armory on Lexington Avenue, the main-drill floor will be a ‘hop’ bed of seasonal tastings, brewer information, great eats, and more. With 75 American breweries slotted to participate there will be over 150 beers to sample from, so matter your beer preference you’ll be sure to find a beer you’ll love.
This spring fling for beer lovers will include such well known breweries such as California’s Lagunitas Brewing Company serving their Wilco Tango Foxtrot (WTF) Ale and A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale, Vermont’s Magic Hat will be pouring Pistil and Ticket Rye, among other national craft breweries. Local breweries represented at the NYC Craft Beer Festival—Spring Seasonal will be Long Island’s Blue Point Brewing Co. who will be offering beer junkies a taste of their Spring Ale and White IPA, River Horse Brewing Co. from New Jersey, will be sampling their Brewmaster Reserve Smoked Scotch Ale and the Brewmaster Reserve Oatmeal Milk Stout.
All of this drinking and socializing is sure to make you hungry! At this year’s Spring Seasonal, guests are encouraged to visit the food court to purchase tasty pairings that have been created especially to pair with the beers available on the drill floor. Coopers Craft & Kitchen and Tavern 29, beer pairing specialists, have cooked up Stout Braised Pulled Pork sandwiches with chipotle BBQ sauce on a brioche bun, Jalapeño guacamole served with cilantro-lime chips, Hickory-Smoked Chicken empanadas with charred tomato sauce, as well as other tasty snacks. For those with gluten issues (who we assume will be the DDs) there is a 3x-cream mac n cheese dish.
You won’t just leave with a buzz when you leave the festival, you might leave with some newfound knowledge about the craft beer world. First-come, first-serve intimate 50-guest seminars will be held during the two sessions of the Spring Seasonal. This year’s programming includes “What is ‘Craft’ Beer, Really?” a seminar and blind tasting lead by NYC craft beer news site, BeerUnion.com, founders Giancarlo and Sarah Annese. Douglas Amport of Bitter and Esters will teach the basics of home brewing and will be dispensing advice and helpful resources for those who one day hope to find their own brews on the main drill floor. Due to the ever growing types of beer styles, Mike Lovullo, the Special Brands Manager from Union Beer Distributors, will be holding a seminar and tasting that discusses the comparisons and differences between the many beer styles.
Devoted beer revelers who purchase the exclusive Connoisseur tickets ($125, 12:30-4pm and 6pm-9:30pm), will have access to the Connoisseur Lounge in the Armory basement. In the Lounge there will be complementary finger foods provided by Draught 55, Pennsylvania 6, and Firebird. Also in the lounge, Connoisseur ticket holders will have the opportunity to sample 15-18 rare brews not found at the main event such as, Sly Fox’s Black Raz Reserve, Founders Brewing Co.’s Doom, Coney Island’s Barrel-Aged Human Blockhead as well as beer cocktails crafted by cocktail guru, Jonathan Pogash.
