Casa Pomona: Sunday Siestas
Serving Up Traditional Tapas and Great Eats on the Upper West Side

Columbus Avenue hosts a fair share of upscale eateries. So how do you know which is the best of the best? Well, if you're looking for traditional Spanish cusine without having to pay airfare, you need to check out Casa Pomona.

Nestled between W 84th and W 85th streets on Columbus ave, Casa Pomona is a  tapas bar serving traditional spanish dishes and drinks like paella and sangria. With wonderful spanish artwork, low lighting, and plenty of seating, Casa Pomona's ambiance feels just like a hip tapas bar in downtown Barcelona.

Everything at Casa Pomona is made with a lot of TLC. Their paella is made to order, all their entrees are cooked with a variety of different unique spanish flavors, and their sangria is made daily behind the bar.

We had a chance to try all of the above for the kick off of their Sunday Siestas. The Espinacas Marchitadas, which is comprised of a bowl of cooked spinach with raisins, pine nuts and shaved manchego cheese on top, was cooked to perfection a definite must try for anyone looking to try a vegetable tapas. The Patatas Bravas is a tapas staple consisting of crispy potatos topped with spicy tomato sauce and aioli.

The sangria is a perfect blend of rosé wine, cava (traditional spanish wine) and Torres orange liqueur garnished with peaches. It is more like a cocktail/sangria hybrid that packs a powerful punch.Casa Pomona is very serious about their sangria, and it is made daily with about 12 bottles of wine! It is also seasonal and this rosé sangria will be replaced soon with their winter sangria blend.

The Pollo Asado entrée is made with roasted free-range chicken and served with a sauce of mushrooms and samfaina (mashed eggplant). The dish is delectable and the eggplant and mushroom sauce compliments the roast chicken perfectly.

Sunday Siestas at Casa Pomona are a must try for the perfect sunday night dinner with friends or family. Sunday Siestas feature all-you-can-eat Arroz Con Cosas for $15 and with bottomless Sangria it's just $29 per person. Arroz Con Cosas offerings will rotate on a weekly basis and is only served on Sundays for Casa Pomona’s Siesta fare.

Casa Pomona is located at 507 Columbus Avenue. You can check out their website here
