Upstairs at the Kimberly Hotel

The rooftop lounge at the Kimberly is a great place for romance: sultry lighting, a fantastic view, the works. Add The Midtown to that list, a beautiful heart-red cocktail made with muddled raspberries, lemon juice, chamomile and bourbon, and garnished with a blooming flower.

MONO+MONO

Korean fried chicken might not be what you immediately think of when you think Valentine’s, but M.J. Chung’s MONO + MONO will be serving up a love-inspired cocktail this Valentine’s Day that will prove you wrong. As a nod to MONO+MONO’s focus on their extensive jazz record collection, the soju-based cocktail has been dubbed the Billie Holiday, and it sets the scene for romance with rose water, rose petals, and Champagne.

Pulqueria

Pulqueria is celebrating Valentine’s Day the Corazon Sangrante, an amorous spin on the margarita that uses beets, which have recently been revealed to be an aphrodisiac. For the entire month of February, Pulqueria will be celebrating “El Mes de los Corazones Sangrantes” (The Month of Bleeding Hearts) with their special margarita, which is prepared tableside.

Uncle Boons

Speaking of aphrodisiacs, married co-chefs Ann Redding and Matt Danzer will be embracing Thai tradition at Uncle Boons and serving up special invigorating shots called Mah Grateub Rong (“Horses Trampling the Stables”). The shots, which are made by infusing rice whiskey with secret herbs and honey,  are designed to put you and your date in the mood for love.

7 Spring St

For those of you who will be facing Valentine’s Day alone, we haven’t forgotten about you. Here are the best anti-Valentine’s cocktail offerings to toast or drown your sorrows about your singledom in style.

Vander Bar

The Roosevelt Hotels house bar will be serving discount drinks all night, and offering a themed menu with “Love Stinks, Let’s Drink” shots, such as the Jameson’s-based Break-Up Text and the It’s Complicated (a tart twist on a Lemon Drop).

Extra Fancy

Robert Krueger, the resident mixologist at Williamsburg hipster haven Extra Fancy, has crafted a specialty Valentine’s cocktail, the Check Yo Self, that combines the sweetness of rum and maple liqueur with two different types of bitters to riff off of all the complicated sweetness and bitterness of love. All the best metaphors for love come in drink form these days.
