Martini Week

Presented by Tasting Table and Thrillist, bars and restaurants around New York City will be participating in Martini Week. During Martini Week, visit any of the participating establishments, from 5:30-8:30pm, and try anyone of their premium vodka and gin martini cocktails for just $10. Each place has created 2 distinct martini cocktails, one vodka and one gin. Participating bars and restaurants include 10 Downing, Peacock Alley at The Waldorf Astoria, Danny Meyer's Tabla, Tao, The Oak Room, and many well-known others.

This Wednesday, from 9-10am, Buttercup Cake Shop will be giving away free cupcakes at Grand Central Station. If you like what you taste and want some more, Buttercup Cake Shop is located at West 72nd Street, near Columbus Ave. There is no sweeter way to start your morning than with a cupcake, especially when it's free.

This Saturday, Jimmy's No. 43, a restaurant and bar in the East Village, is hosting the First Annual NYC Souperama, from 1-5pm. This soup cook-off will result in over 15 soups to be judged by the following food professionals: Cathy Erway, author of The Art of Eating In and Not Eating Out in New York; Jake Schiffman from The Food Network; Gabrielle Langholz, editor of Edible Manhattan and Edible Brooklyn; and food writer, Sherri Brooks Vinton. The entrance fee of $20 will benefits the non-profit organizations of The Fresh Air Fund, developers of educational cooking programs for people with special needs, and Harbor Hope, who provide free summer experiences for less-fortunate children of New York City. This event is not only open to those who love soup, but those you love cooking soup; you can enter the contest by e-mailing foodkarma@gmail.com.
