He may be only one third of global DJ sensation Swedish House Mafia, but alone or not, Steve Angello will bring a massive sound. On Saturday August 20th, RPM and Pacha NYC present Size Matters with Steve Angello at Governors Island.
The Swedish and Greek DJ / Producer has been creating electro and tech house beats for years, with his first big remix of dance classic "Sweet Dreams" Eurythmics in 2004 that still can be heard throughout in various DJ sets today. After linking up with disc jockeys Axwell and Sebestian Ingrosso, the trio became an unstoppable force known as Swedish House Mafia. "Leave the World Behind" featuring vocals by dance diva Deborah Cox was Swedish House Mafia's first production together in 2009, which grabbed the undivided attention of dance fans. It seems that with every new release, devoted fans keep multiplying for the Mafia.
With the release of single "One (Your Name)" was released in 2010, Swedish House Mafia instantly reached mainstream and international success. The DJ group has become to popular, they even performed alongside Usher at the American Music Awards in late 2010. It is safe to say the Swedish House Mafia has definitely made their mark on American dance soil.
In a recent documentary Take One, the group is followed on tour and fans are treated to behind the scenes footage of the how the single "One (Your Name)" was created. When commenting on the song and it's popularity, Angello commented, " I like when things become massive." The size of the impact made with each song matters to Angello, who created his own record label, Size Records. Based in Sweden, Steve Angello represents tech-house artists including Funkagenda and Thomas Gold.
Known for solo productions including newest club favorites KNAS and Open Your Eyes, Steve Angello will return back to New York City for his first solo appearance since Roseland Ballroom for New Years Eve 2010. Angello is sure to play a mixture of his solo productions as well as Swedish House Mafia hits including their latest single, Save the World, which was released in May 2011 and can be heard all over both dance and mainstream radio airwaves. Joining Mr. Angello at Governors Island on August 20th, will be Size Records artist Thomas Gold along with Junior Sanchez.
