Newport Beach. Benihana. Women's Studies. Bruce Lee. All you need for the making of an international superstar DJ.
Introducing Steve Aoki, who returns later this month to satisfy a voracious Vegas with his monthly residency at XS Nightclub. The Newport-beach raised Aoki is no stranger to entrepreneurial endeavours; coming from the family that founded the Japanese cuisine chain Benihana, Aoki’s own hunger lead him to graduate with not one, but two, college degrees (Only a real-- smart-- man holds a B.A. in Women's Studies.) After running successful underground concerts out of his college apartment complex, Aoki went on to build his own record label in his early 20s, named Dim Mak, after his childhood hero, Bruce Lee. Dim Mak has discovered a variety of Electro House artists including MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots, and Mustard Pimp. Aoki's creative determination has melted into the fashion industry; he's designed lines for KR3W Apparel, Supra Footwear, headphones for WESC, bags with Burton, and brand new clothing range with his sister, Devon.
As a club promoter and DJ, Aoki released his debut album in 2008, Pillowface and his Airplane Chronicles, spent 6 weeks on Billboard's Dance/Electronica chart, peaking at #8. He has successfully remixed music from Michael Jackson, The Killers, Robin Thicke, Lenny Kravitz and many others. His most recent collaboration "Turbulence" with Laidback Luke featuring Lil Jon has been making steam in the charts as well. Headlining this year’s IDentity Festival, along with the likes of Steve Lawler and Kaskade, Steve Aoki is an act not to be missed.
Catch him for a solo performance on August 22, 2011 at XS Nightclub at Las Vegas’s Encore Hotel. XS has been dubbed the “Godzilla” of nightclubs for a reason, so grab Holly Madison (she's a regular) and unleash your fury on the dancefloor.
