Skrillex, Ellie Goulding and Swedish House Mafia have been recording a new track! While not much other information is out at this time, the track is rumored to be for Goulding's new album, the followup to her excellent 2010 debut, Lights.
In an interview with Billboard.com, Sebastian Ingrosso, of Swedish House Mafia, said:
"We made a demo and it was amazing; we had a blast... Ellie is a great artist... Her voice is amazing. Skrillex, enough said, he is Skrillex."
This collaboration would have seemed pretty random if it wasn't for the fact that Skrillex and Goulding are currently dating. Their relationship, purportedly beginning over the internet, is "blossoming" as Skrillex put it in a Rolling Stone interview earlier this month.
This collaboration should be one for the record books. Swedish House Mafia have been pumping out some of the finest dance tunes longer than most people remember. Couple that with UK starlet Goulding's unique and ethereal voice, and Skrillex's, well, Skrillex-ness, and you're sure to get a hit.
Ingrosso, in the same interview with Billboard, mentioned that Skrillex and Goulding were actually late to their recording session. SHM had already put down a basic melody and were beginning to flesh it out when the couple walked in.
Fortunately, Skrillex loved it and the creative process continued.
While there are no official titles/release dates or any other information about the tracks yet, we'll be sure to keep you updated as this unfurls!
