This Labor Day, Electric Zoo is set to takeover Randall’s Island for the fourth year in a row. With just under two weeks left until the festival, organizers have released the final lineup and set times for the three-day event. Spanning four stages, Electric Zoo will offer an eclectic lineup, which includes everything from House to Techno, Trance to Dubstep, and Electro to Drum & Bass. Some of the most notable names in the EDM will perform in one of the biggest electronic music festivals on the east coast, with David Guetta, Axwell, and Tiësto headlining.
If you’re lucky enough to make it to this marathon of a festival, planning is key to get the best experience. Over 100 artists will perform at four different stages throughout the three days of Electric Zoo and it will be impossible to catch every one of them. To make the best of your festival experience here is a day-to-day guide of the essential sets of Electric Zoo.
Day 1 – Friday, August 31: Highlights of day one include a back-to-back set from rising techno dons Brodinski and Gesaffelstein at the Fools Gold Clubhouse Riverside Stage. Also at the clubhouse, Moombahton founder’s Nadastrom will be bringing their raucous, reggaeton-inspired set to the festival as moombahton’s popularity continues to expand. On the mainstage expect EDM legend Laidback Luke to bring an eclectic mix of the best EDM of the moment, followed by headliner David Guetta. To finish off the day, catch DJ superstar A-Trak mixing and scratching at his own Fool’s Gold stage, then head over to catch bass music maestro Pretty Lights close the main stage.
Day 2 – Saturday, September 1: After recovering from the festivities of Day 1 it’s time to do it all over again. Start off gently with some chilled at house music at the Sunday School Grove Stage, first with house legend and Dirtybird label boss Claude Von Stroke followed by rising UK DJ/producer Maya Jane Coles. From there, be sure to catch Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell play a colossal set on the Main Stage. Get the best of Electro and Trance to finish out your night with Steve Aoki closing the Dim Mak Riverside stage and Above & Beyond closing the Main Stage.
Day 3 – Sunday, September 2: The third and final day of Electric Zoo offers some of the biggest sets of the festival. Be sure to catch dubstep super group and former Pendulum band mates Knife Party tear up the main stage early on in the day. Also on the main stage is EDM superstar Tiësto who will play an early night set to guide you into two of the biggest and not-to-be missed performances of the festival. Boys Noize, the underground techno star from Berlin, is a must-see at the Sunday School Groove Stage. Over the years he has made a name for himself as one of the ultimate festival DJs in the EDM world. Finally, to cap the Electric Zoo experience, head over to the Main Stage and catch constantly evolving Skrillex electrify the crowd with his mix of dubstep, electro, and everything in between.
