Last night, Tom Petty lovers hit East Village’s infamous Webster Hall for Petty Fest. Jameson Irish Whiskey and The Fest guys who brought you Dylan Fest and Stones Fest debuted the first, Petty Fest NY, a tribute to the music of Tom Petty, last night.
The Fests have become a New York tradition described by Rolling Stone as “an experience that is equal parts concert and celebration." Having started in the same close-knit NYC Lower East Side bars that adopted Jameson as their drink of choice back in the early 90s, the Fests are everything a Jameson night embodies – good friends coming together for their love of music.
Last night’s show was jam-packed attended and a total hit with surprise guest covers by Cyndi Lauper, Fred Armisen (SNL), John McEnroe and Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon, The Stroke’s, Albert Hammond Jr. and Father John Misty of Fleet Foxes.
100% of Petty Fest 2012 ticket sale proceeds benefitted the charity Sweet Relief Musicians Fund to help struggling musicians.
