Freshen Up Fridays 002
A Jamerican' super star's return to music after a near fatal accident and how a North Philly man accomplished real life dreams from his REAL life nightmares.

Artist Of The Week:
Sean Kingston
For 22-year-old Sean Kingston, the term "Back 2 Life" describes way more than just his highly anticipated third solo album title. "Hip Hop/Reggae singer, Sean Kingston Critically Injured In Jet Ski Crash" is what the headlines read 18 months ago as millions of fans, friends, supporters and family members pulled together praying for the "Prince Of Miami." He's back to his feet and behind the mic with his first single since the life threatening incident. "Rum And Raybands" feat. Cher Lloyd, is climbing the charts as Kingston reclaims his presence!
Album Of The Week:
'Dreams And Nightmares,' Meek Mill

From the intro, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. You feel the pain, but you also feel the strength, you feel the soul. You would think I'm describing a traditional Christian baptism. But I'm actually referring to how you feel when you pop "Dreams And Nightmares" into your iPod.

The rest of the album proceeds in the same fashion… From dark victorious joints like "In God We Trust," soulful jazz inspired projects like "Maybach Curtains" featuring legendary MC Nas, to hard hitting hip hop party anthems like "Young & Getting It" featuring Kirko Bangz; Meek Mill's debut solo album "Dreams And Nightmares" is sure to keep you "in the zone" through out your daily grind.

Remix Of The Week: "Hey" -LaidBack Luke & Diplo. Remixed by DJ Mister Gray & DJ Ruen

Freshen Up Friday's has briefly just been turned into "trap fridays". Joonbug has a special entry today for song of the week. This style of music, which incorporates heavy bass and raspy, “trappy” snares in the form of an amalgam of crunk hip-hop beats and electronic music, has exploded on the scene over the course of the past 18 months and has seemingly taken over the underground eclectic music crowd. Remixed by South Florida's DJ Mister Gray & DJ Ruen,  check it out and enjoy. Turn up your speakers!

Fashion Of The Week: Vivienne Kelly

This hand painted wood accessory line is capturing way more than just eyes. Yup, you can actually find them dangling from ears, fingers and wrists, as well. The brand Vivienne Kelly by Kelly Brett, of Brooklyn has some fresh and exciting styles with a Paris flavor to be displayed. The unique hand painted pieces use a variety of techniques such as paint splatter, color blocking and graffiti prints, which stem from Brett's core belief of daring to be different. And yes they have a full womens and mens line. With great studying under fashion pioneers like Ralph Lauren, Kelly has gained the expertise to lead the fashion industry and we shall see that come to pass.

Video Of The Week: "Dreams And Nightmares The Documentary"

"It's gonna be a movie" is what Meek Mill said the day he was signed to Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group, so there was no surprise when this documentary ended up viral on the night of Hurricane Sandy's climax. As power got restored, it was back to the GRIND!  It's narrated by Shaheem Reid,  as he captures Meek Mill in such an affective mode. No "Jalil Beats" behind his words and no Rick Ross grunts ad libbing. Just the grateful, blessed voice of a once struggling Robert Williams reflecting on his road to a better life.
