The brand new Santigold track “Girls,” is the soundtrack’s lead single.

"Music is such a huge part of my creative process,” explains Girls creator Lena Dunham. “I make playlists to write by and listen to as I head to set in the morning, and I experiment in editing with songs that the characters would love and that accurately reflect their struggles. Girls' music supervisor Manish Raval and I are crazy about everything from the pop that teen girls devour to the niche indie rock from days of yore. To collaborate with Fueled by Ramen and so many artists who inspire me on this compilation is a dream.”

What makes this compilation a great mix is you get the best of all genres. It features a versatile mix of songs ranging from contemporary pop, rock, dance, and indie. The electro pop anthem "I Love It" from Swedish sweeties, Icona Pop is featured as well as indie track "Montezuma" by Fleet Foxes. Fun's newest tune "Sight Of The Sun" made the cut as well. Also, songs can be heard by such iconic artists as Belle & Sebastian, Robyn, and The Vaccines.  The album also includes tracks from a number of today’s most intriguing new artists, including Oh Land, Harper Simon, with the Deluxe Edition adding such critically acclaimed acts as Sleigh Bells, White Sea and Generationals.
