So you recently released Magenta, how do you feel?
I feel incredibly good. All the super positive feedbacks from people and the big support from colleagues are making me a happy man. It took me a while to pack the album together, but it was worth the wait.
Has anybody reached out to you to remix any of the tracks or vice versa?
Yes, I have many people asking to remix one of my album tracks. I’m keeping all of them on my list, but right now we are focusing on the second single release already and remixers have been sorted. The second single is the album title track “Magenta” in collaboration with the legendary Ferry Corsten. We have On Earth, Greg Downey, and M.I.K.E. on the remixes.
What would you say was the hardest part about producing Magenta?
Finding the right timing with all the other collaborators. Everyone is busy with their own hectic schedule. Combining people together is never easy, but I’ve managed out quite well at the end, though it took me around 15 months. I also wanted to have at least one studio session together with all the singers but it was quite impossible to make it happen since I have collaborated with people from all around the world. The only option was to work through the internet and that’s what I did.
How would you describe Magenta to someone who hasn’t listened to it yet?
Did you know each color has its meaning and very own message? Magenta is Passionate, Creative, Non-Conformist, it promotes Compassion, Kindness and Cooperation and encourages a sense of self respect. Magenta represents Universal Love at its highest level. The album with its music intends to give exactly the same message the color does.
What is your favorite track on the album and why?
My favorite one is “Love Will Bring It All Around” with Eric Lumiere. It’s a track that really touches me as it represents the real world. It’s the perfect match between my music and Eric’s deep lyrics giving to life the dark-to-light journey we both wanted to have on this track. I would also suggest checking out the “Crossover Mix” of this track which is only available on iTunes as a bonus track; I’m really in love with it.
What is your take on the state of EDM at the moment and who are your biggest influences musically?
I’m enjoying the scene very much. I like how the music is evolving and I am even more excited about the future. Even if I’m not completely into every style of today’s EDM, I have to say there’s a lot of great music around and good music is just good music, doesn’t matter the style. I’m listening to everything and I actually like to be influenced by everyone, big names as well as upcoming new producers. I love to take those elements of the new sound and bring them back into my own style. This allows me to deliver something fresh, which stays up to date and true to my style anyway, and most importantly, without losing my identity. When I release a track I want people to be able to say…”yes this is Giuseppe”.
What can we expect from you for the remaining of 2013?
Well now that the album is done, I’ve already started to think and to work on the next project. It’s too early to talk about it though, so let’s enjoy Magenta for the rest of the year with all the new single releases coming up in the next few months.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not producing or performing?
Not much time left to be honest but in my free time I seriously just want to be home, relaxing, spending time with friends and most importantly with family. It’s hard to find the right balance between all these things with this kind of job indeed.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I make a brilliant Spaghetti Carbonara.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
I’m constantly looking forward and I always think the best is yet to come. In 5 years, no idea but I will surely keep pushing and will do my best to always deliver good music.
What is one message you would like to send out to all your fans?
Thanks for reading this interview and hope you’ll enjoy Magenta. See you soon on the dance floor!
