Hollywood Records artist Cole Plante has just released his newest digital single, “Lie To Me” (see below), a collaboration with Myon & Shane 54 featuring Koko LaRoo. The “Extended Mix” was released exclusively on Beatport on July 30th, and fans can expect a R3hab remix to be released in the near future.
The single released just before his set at Lollapalooza on August 3rd, and 16-year-old Plante will be the youngest DJ ever to perform at the festival. In fact, “Lie To Me” is the follow-up to his past single, “Forever,” released on Teknicole. The track features a strong, electro buildup but quickly shifts to the sound of delicate piano keys mixed with Koko’s sturdy vocals. Myon & Shane 54 are a Hungarian duo known for the spectacular trance they have produced, and it’s always good to see artists experiment with new genres. Overall, we’re really liking the track because it has a great buildup, and a drop I can already envision being played at some of the biggest festivals around the country. It’s fresh and invigorating. And, uh, a 16-year-old produced it.
However, if you watch the docuseries, “Cole Plante: Unfiltered,” you’ll see that despite the path he has chosen, Cole is simply your normal 16-year-old boy. He starts off episode 1 talking about how hard it is to be 16 (oh, to be a teenager again) with girls, school, learning how to drive, marching band, track, and DJ’ing consuming his life. He shares a room with his brother, and Cole, like pretty much every other kid, loves playing videogames in his spare time. On the other hand, you’ll find that perhaps Cole is not so normal, but actually very gifted. He just finished a track with Perry Farrell called “Here We Go Now,” which will be released not too far from now.
In the past, Cole has spun at Voyeur in San Diego, L.E.D. Events, Rain in Las Vegas, Avalon in Hollywood, Amnesia in Miami, Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego and Las Vegas, Enclave in Chicago, and Ruby Skye in San Francisco, as well as Identity Festival 2012, Red Bull’s Summer X Games 2012, and the American Music Awards 40th anniversary VIP party. He has also performed in conjunction with Avicii, Nero, Porter Robinson, Eric Prydz, Paul Oakenfold, Bingo Players, Carnage, and Danny Avila. We’ve recently added Plante to our watch list because it is clear that he is a talent hidden beneath the surface.
“Lie To Me” will be available exclusively at Beatport.com through August 12. It will be available exclusively on Spotify from August 13-26. Available to all major digital retailers on August 27.
