As part of his North American "Spark Tour", Afrojack made a stop in the one and only New York City. The show was originally set to take place at MCU Park located in Coney Island, but due to rainy weather forecasts, they had to switch up the venue last minute. Afrojack was not phased by the venue change though. He came to the Roseland Ballroom ready to get the crowd absolutely "jacked".
The set had a number of his hit songs including "Can't Stop Me Now", "No Beef" and "As Your Friend", as well as some new unheard songs that will appear on his upcoming album. His hard house sound, along with a variety of vocal samples were mixed flawlessly. Everyone at the show heard a song that they loved, as he used vocals from various other artists, like Empire of the Sun's "Alive" and Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven".
You can tell Afrojack loves his fans as he played a two-hour set. He made sure to talk to the crowd and thank them for coming, as well as make a couple of shout outs to sign holders, all while spraying champagne and leaning off the edge of the stage to get up close with the front rowers. It was clear to us why Afroajck is one of EDM's biggest stars.
The lights and sounds provided by the stage and lighting crew were phenonemenal. Every time a beat dropped you could feel the place vibrate, which would send the crowd into a frenzy of jumping and stomping. Lights were as bright as they could be at some points which would contrast of the back drop screen behind the DJ which showcased Afrojack's festival memories and accomplishments. The packed venue was alive, as crowd goers danced the Sunday night away. Streamers and confetti only made the event that much more special.
He closed out with one last track while thanking New York for coming out and supporting him.
