For some, Halloween is the best holiday of the year. In honor of National Mean Girls Day, “[In Girl World,] Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.” Well said. But in the dance music world, Halloween is just another great excuse to throw a party, and to say that RPM knows the tricks of the trade is a huge understatement.
Pier of Fear is returning to New York, and this year, Halloween will be celebrated over the span of five days. This is more than double the amount of parties as 2012, which consisted of Knife Party’s The Haunted House Tour and All Mixed Up featuring Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso, Otto Knows, and Carl Kennedy. Girls, this means that you’re probably going to have to purchase five different costumes so that when you mupload, you’re not wearing the same exact outfit you wore the day before. Unless you have no shame. In which case, all the more to you.
Friday, October 25th will be the first day of celebration. Laidback Luke will bring his Super You & Me-themed party along with supporting acts Deniz Koyu, Gladiator, Moska, and Tom Swoon. The last time Luke was in NY at Governors Island this summer, he dressed up as Batman and his wife, Gina Turner, came appropriately as Robin. There are no excuses for you to show up costume-less, so get creative and find a superhero alter ego that best suits your personality!
Saturday, October 26th welcomes the world’s highest-paid DJ and Billboard record-breaker, Calvin Harris. “Thinking About You” featuring Ayah Marar was likely one of your favorite tracks of the summer, but if you still miss old school Calvin, “Flashback” and “You Used to Hold Me” still define him as an artist. R3hab, Michael Woods, and Burns will support.
Friday, November 1st and Saturday, November 2nd conclude Halloween weekend with Steve Aoki and special guests Waka Flocka Flame, Borgore, and Pharrell. There will be cakes, champagne, stage jumps, and anything else you can possibly imagine. These parties are going to be the filthiest of them all, and that’s what Halloween is all about, right?
