Review: Avicii @ Roseland Ballroom
The superstar DJ rocked Roseland Ballroom with opener Henrik B
Veni, vidi, AVICII!  That’s right, EDM DJ sensation, Avicii, soundly conquered Roseland Ballroom this past Thursday night. He strategically alllied with Ralph Lauren's Denim & Supply Co., partnered with Macy's, in the name of self-expression and individuality. Fans, who secured their tickets to the event by purchasing a limited-edition T-shirt at select Macy's, were treated to a night of fun, fashion, and all things music, while mingling with fellow champions: Cyndi Lauper, Spike Jonze, Chanel Iman, and Alan Cumming.

Opener Henrik B got the party started with a blitz light show and DJ set, while pumped fans belted-out both originals and remixes.  Up on stage, a giant, ever-changing sign of “B is for...” was projected, while smoke and lasers held the crowd captive. The roof was raised when Henrik spun a remix to Lana Del Rey's Young & Beautiful, and then again to The Killers Mr. Brightside, the crowd went wild!

AVICII!  Lightening hot...jammed his bangin’ hit, I Could Be The One, as his opener! Smoke, fog, and confetti blasters pelted the crowd; lasers pulsed to deafening cheers and the floor quaked. A sea of neon swayed in unison to ID (I Wish I Could Turn Back Time), while an insane laser light show illuminated the entire venue. Strobe lights fluttered throughout tracks like Dear Boy; fog machines with pink and red back-lighting mesmerized the audience. A unique story was projected for each track with the help of a hi-tech double-screen which was strategically placed in front of, and behind, Avicii. Perhaps the most hypnotic was, Hey Brother, which projected a serene, cross-country road trip, until it morphed into a roller coaster ride; the drops in the song aligned with the drops in the carnival ride.

This superstar Swede succeeds once again in conquering his venue, armed only with his charisma and innovative artistry. Veni, vidi, AVICII!
