Travel Essentials: What You Need for Hitting the Road
Pack light and enjoy yourself --stylishly speaking!
With the holiday season approaching travel plans are being made to visit our loved ones. Perhaps, you're going on a well-deserved vacation. As women, I think we usually tend to "over-pack" and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't guilty of this at least a few (ahem) - ok, maybe more than a few times during my traveling life. I decided to set out to find the most useful and allowable items that one can bring with them on a trip (it's hard to keep-up, with all of the constantly changing rules and regulations).
My first pick is a comfy sweatshirt for the plane, car, bus or however you will be traveling this season. With the cooler temperatures hitting here on the East Coast, owning a comfortable, stylish and great go-to sweatshirt is definitely a wardrobe staple that’s truly needed! I recently heard about a newer brand to the fashion scene, called Kings of Cole.  I was told that their sweat-shirts and casual wear are both super stylish & super cozy — where utility and warmth merge!! Celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Taylor Lautner, Kim Kardashian, and entertainment guru Micah Jesse have all been spotted wearing the brand. Those chilly plane flights need not be uncomfortable any longer! From the crisp city streets, to the high-skies, to the brisk evening shores of the beach, even while curling up alongside the fire-place– Kings of Cole is most definitely this fashionista’s favorite sweat-shirt brand right now! Perhaps, the most alluring feature of the line is the mere fact that you and your significant other can mix and match casual looks together in the comfort of the bedroom!! This brand can also be worn to dinner during a fun evening out, too! You can wear a stylin’ Kings of Cole hoodie paired with a great dark wash jean and high-boot, & later still be comfortable. It’s that “I’m not trying too hard” look that I’ve always been drawn to and is perfect for travel.

Clothing isn't the only area that us ladies tend to over-pack and with all of the strict plane regulations one never knows exactly what is the safe bet to bring along. Unless you're a celebrity flying in a G-6 (not a bad thought) carrying cases upon cases of make-up/cosmetics probably isn't going to work. With that thought, a universally flattering makeup palette is most definitely where it's at. You can highlight those gorgeous eyes and go glam with Benefit's "Glam...Therefore I am" seven-piece makeup kit that features Benefit's chic new shades and celebrated bestsellers.  This particular palette on Sephora has received impressive reviews. This full set of gorgeous essentials makes an exceptionally swank gift, too. Follow the step-by-step lesson inside for a fabulous flush, glamorous glow, alluring eyes, a flirty wink, and irresistible lips. This set contains:   Liquid Pearl for your face: Girl Meets Pearl (pearly golden pink), Eyeshadow Palette in Pink Fancy (pale pink), Icy Lilac (silvery light mauve), Posh Amethyst (soft plum), Precious Pewter (steel gray), Double-Ended Sponge Applicator, Glamming Face Powder with Brush (soft rose/ peachy pink sheen),  A Little Bit BADgal Lash Mascara in black, and a fabulous Lip Gloss called, "Life On The A List" (bubble gum pink). One of my favorites in the set is Girl Meets Pearl --I thought this was going to be just like High Beam (which I already love) but it's not; it's actually better. It makes me look well-rested and pretty. Just a little dab on the high planes of your face/cheeks and you're all set!

Since we're on the topic of packing 'less' means more -- how about jewelry! I think that owning a wonderful 'go-to' piece of jewelry is most definitely a travel and wardrobe staple. I really love the jewelry designs of Jane Basch. Accessories most definitely make any outfit and jewelry designer Jane Basch has some amazing pieces that will easily transform your look into something extra special. Her coveted hand-made jewelry line is worn by the likes of Demi Moore, Debra Messing, Ashley Tisdale, Christina Applegate and among fashionistas coast-to-coast. I also own some of Jane Basch’s enchanting designs and I can say, I’m definitely in good company after familiarizing myself with her impressive client list! Also featured in Lucky magazine and Inside Weddings Magazine — Jane’s creations are a favorite amongst so many! Her Petite Personals and other monogram necklaces literally go with ANY outfit you can conjure up – from a weekend in jeans, evening wedding to corporate boardroom. Jane’s designs look fabulous with any look you have on! I also heard from Jane directly that she’ll be doing another give-away through the Jane Baschfacebook page – get ready, ladies!! As always, there’s an empowering feeling I get every time I wear one of my initial jewelry pieces crafted by Jane.

Comfort is also key, so with all of the walking that we're bound to do -- bringing along that perfect pair of flats is a must! I already own many pairs of shoes from Charlotte Russe and I have to say that besides being uber-stylish, they're also uber-comfortable. In this economy (and with everything your spending on travel) it's nice to know that comfort, fashion and savings collide here!  Buy one pair of flats and get your second pair at $15.50- it's a sweet deal for your feet that can't be beat. With designers such as celebrity stylist Eric Daman designing for the brand, the quality of the fashions here offer a lot of bang for your buck. These metallic penny-loafers will take you from travel-time to an enjoyable night out with ease! The fun and funky animal prints are also a great choice, because they can instantly add a little punch to any ensemble you create!

So now that we've decided on some key items to bring, what do we carry it all in? In my encounters thus far, I have to say that Diane VonFurstenberg, creator of the iconic wrap-dress also carries some wonderful luggage. You can often find her luggage pieces on sale. Colorful, sturdy, chic with detailed accents and various suitcase, travel-bags and other travel bags.  Her tote bags also make the perfect carry-on for the plane, bus or car. I also feel like there's something powerful about wearing items from such designer icons as Diane. She clearly knows that style, sass and a little pizazz most definitely are a fashionista's friend. Not to mention, her endurance is something I find an inspirational thought when traveling. A world traveler herself, click this link to see where you can meet designer Diane Von Furstenberg  from New York to Paris! Renowned for its iconic wrap dress and signature prints, DVF has grown the global luxury lifestyle brand into what it is today with a complete collection of ready-to-wear, swim, accessories, footwear and handbags. Inspired by chic DVF signature prints, her fashions are both functional and fashionable!

Also, please remember your trusty cell phone and i-pod chargers and be certain to bring some handy cash along for various other incidentals. I hope you're off to someplace tropical and warm or spending valuable time with those you care about!
