Last night, Caitlin Kelly, an up-and-coming swimwear designer, held an exclusive preview runway show on the rooftop of 2 Gold Street. Caitlin graduated from FIT and has since designed for Badgley Mischka, Target, AH Schreiber, and was the head designer for Aerin Rose Swimwear. Her line was so well received that the owner of Jordan Taylor Inc. offered her the opportunity to create her own high end swimwear collection. The exclusive preview last night was the result of that opportunity and she will be showing her Spring/Summer 2013 collection again at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami this July.
Her swimwear collection features convertible bikinis, monokinis, and one-pieces, along with accompanying cover-ups that use fabrics from Italy and Canada and were manufactured in New York. Drinks at the show were provided by Don Q Rum and Top Brass Vodka.
"I’m really excited to have debuted my collection last night," says Kelly, "I feel like I’ve just woken up from the most amazing dream, but my dream came true and I’m truly blessed. Standing backstage and seeing each piece walk down the runway can only be equated to watching your child ride the bus to school for the first time. Releasing my first collection to the world, after keeping it under wraps for so long, is so invigorating and rewarding."
