Most recently, Yana showed her Spring/Summer 2013 Collection at Nolcha Fashion Week in New York City. We were able to chat with the talented designer on her upcoming projects, her design esthetique and what celebrities she wants to dress.

How has your European design experience helped you here in America?
I observe and transform my ideas from European culture into American lifestyle. I especially love New York City, and its unique combination of people from all over the world. It helps to change the way the world thinks about fashion today.

You've designed plenty of outfits that have been worn on many red carpet. Who has been your favorite celebrity to design for thus far?
The main objective of my collections each season is to gain exposure to celebrities, press and other industry professionals. I've designed for many high profile celebrities from different countries, such as the very well known American actress Melissa Leo, famous Italian movie star Gina Lollobrigida, Ursula Andress from Sweden, and many others. I would be interested to have an opportunity to create for celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Julia Roberts.

How would you describe the woman who wears your designs?
Classic and Elegant.

What is your favorite material to work with & why?
There are so many incredible fabrics, but my favorite is the combination of French lace and silk chiffon.
I think that together these fabrics are simple, feminine and glamorous.

Tell us a bit about your last collection you showed during Nolcha Fashion Week.

My last collection symbolized individuality, confidence, magical femininity, elegance, timeless fashion and endless beauty. All fabrics in my garments are designed to make every woman feel and look special.

What are your favorite colors right now?
My favorite colors for Spring/Summer 2013 are neutrals like white and off white, pastels (in pink, blue, green, and yellow), copper and black.

What upcoming projects do You have going on ?
I'm preparing my new collection for Fall/Winter 2013 and in the future I'm planning to launch my own line of cosmetics and perfumes.
