Femmes Take a Nod from Menswear

This weekend, I set out to scour my favorite chain stores and boutiques in hopes to score a couple of fun party dresses for the slew of events I have on deck this busy holiday season. With money in my pocket and fashionable visions in my mind, my mission was sadly not so successful. My go-to stores simply didn't deliver, errr, shall I say, over delivered on current trends like sequins, studs, suede and shiny lame.

Now, typically, I love all things that shine but basics and other styles have to have a place in my sparkly mix. A lot of my stores slanted more toward to glitz, giving little to the glam and little to none to staple garb. Thus, for tonight's party, I have no new duds and instead will have to get ultra-creative with my current wardrobe mix.

Enter, menswear. The boyfriend sweater is nothing new to any glam girls collection. However, this piece doesn't quite translate to the p.m. hours. So, I've taken inspiration from the classic, tailored suit. Clean suits are ideal for day or night and all of the top designers are churning out a suit or two in their current collections.

My version? A crisp black blazer, a black leather or sequin skinny pant and a casual while crisp oversized white tee or tank. A cherry-red lip finishes off this look more than perfectly. So, suited up I shall be.
